It's here.....

Arrived last week - Had my first mx experience today - Knew it needed a 45K service, plus a CV boot - Took it to my favorite shop in Seattle, and $1,244.27 later, noticed the wash guy apparently sprayed wheel cleaner (Yikes!)on my perfect Fuchs and forgot to wash it off.....two hours of cleaning / polishing later, they are back in good shape, but Huh?

To top it off, the service advisor said I needed a cap and rotor, and quoted me $100 and $30, respectively - Checked PP, and see they are factoring in a 100% mark up - What - Do they think they are jewelers, or what!!?? Told him no, I think I can change out a cap and rotor.....Just ordered Wayne's book - Not much of a DIYer, but I'm a quick learner!

The car is just what I've been searching for - Every time I look at it, I smile...My wife wants to divorce me over my "impetuous" purchase, but she'll get over it...or not!

Welcome! I think your "favorite shop in seattle" needs to become "John Walker's Workshop". Look them up, seriously.

livi, it is a carrera 3.2 like yours, on an SC the foglights are WAY out (unless they are sitting in the garage like mine

Mark,
If you are a quick learner, do yourself a favor and pick up a Bentley manual for your car. You'll be glad you did ! Even if you eventually sell your car, the manual is always worth $65 to somebody else. I think they are a little north of $100, new. Might want to check Amazon.
Welcome and best of luck to you...

Thumbs up

Yessir, the Bentley manual rules. It is likely to pay for itself on the first repair. I wish they had one for my e38 740.

Welcome... Also, since you live in John Walkers neck of the woods, I would quickly entertain the thought of switching shops...

Hey all - Thanks for the nice comments - It's an all-original '89 w/ 42K - Looks like it just came off the showroom floor.....My wife actually took the car out for a drive today, so maybe she's coming around! I'll check in w/ Walker -- Thanks for the recomendation.
