got the bird...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1132523145.jpg
coming home from an otherwise splendid day at the track i found a pheasant in the road at about 80mph on hwy 5. it was a shower of glass, feathers, and guts all over me. it did not just break the lens it wasted all of the innards of the lamp bucket. if you look close you can see the feathers and blood amongst the glass remaining in the bucket. i really felt bad for the bird, but i am beginning to get over the loss of life and it's the $160 for a new h4 that is the lingering bad taste. i guess it could have been a windshield? |
Is that what you call a fly-by?
|
Nope ... definitely a mid-air!
Too bad about the H1! How much for the remnants? |
Be happy it wasn't a deer....
|
ouch toby.
on a good note looks like no hood or fender damage. guess I should feel lucky. my last road kill was a bunny partially lodged on my rear sway bar. Your looks easier to clean up. |

i have not looked around under the car yet, maybe i should before it starts to stink up the garage..
|
Actually I'm not sure from the post if K911SC knows what he destroyed.
That wasn't an H4. It was an H1. It's a tad bit more money... |
Now substitute the left headlight for a right kneecap, and the pheasant for a crow. Speed was about the same when I pasted said crow with said kneecap while riding my Harley early last spring. Look EVERYWHERE for bird remnants. It's amazing where you might find some.

If you need a good pheasant recipe let me know.:D
|
Shoot, be glad it wasn't sheetmetal...Bummer all the same.
|
Good luck finding a replacement. H-1's are NLA...it might be a good move to sell the one remaining good light to a deserving soul on the S registry board...then replace with 2 H-4's. Guys over there are always looking for H-1 spares...with luck, you might be able to sell the one H-1 for enough to buy a pair of H-4's.

Many years ago while driving a '72 Beetle at about 70 MPH +/- I hit a birf with the fender mounted antenna and cut the poor thing in half.
Half of the bird was shot into the windshield and got caught up on the windshield wipers. First I thought ....."oh poor bird" but then was surprised to look down on the right side to see half a birds. Somethings are unavoidable, good thing the pheasant did'nt hit the windshield, remmember the post of the Boxster that hit a large bird, total devestation to both the bird and the car. |

OK....how did the double post happen? |
Don't feel sorry for the bird.
The bird probably escaped from one of the many farms in that area. There is no difference to the bird between a load of pellets and a headlight. It would have made a nice part of a dinner. |

Yup! That's an H1. You might want to work a bit harder to salvage that puppy. Pelican has the lenses pretty reasonble, I had to get one awhile back. |

I have a set of used H4's you can have. Off a 75, if you can use them????

Tonights special is "Pheasant Under Glass" served with a garlic cream reduction.........
|
Must have been a most un-pheasant experience.
