Passenger Mirror Placement '82 Coupe

I've seen threads on where to cut the holes to place a passenger side mirror on an '82 before but they all refer to a diagram in a parts manual which I found but honestly it's pretty confusing.

Does anyone have a template they made that also has a way to "self center" and alighn it on the door that they could possibly send me? Thanks!

Sorry I don't have a template.

The problem with my '73 and probably yours is that if you use the "mounting holes" inside the door frame leading edge, you won't be able to see the mirror from the driver's seat!! Those holes are for right hand drive Porsches. I did that and can't see the mirror. One of these days I'll need to move that puppy back a couple of inches. That will involve drilling and plugging holes. But the right hand mirror is essential, IMHO, for safety. I'm lost without being able to easily see out that side.

Good luck,

Tom

The previous owning cut the wrong placement holes when importing the car so I'm trying to find the correct spot

Hi Ds1, viewing from iPhone so can't see your location. If you need info/template for placement of passenger mirror on a US spec 911SC I'll make you a tracing off of my door and send out a paper template.

Again, just to be clear, Right side door mirror in a left hand drive car. 😁

Please email me directly at Cooper.boggs@gmail.com with your mailing address and I'll send a tracing out.

Cooper

Sorry to hijack thread, but my car never came with passenger mirror (and I don't plan to add one) but I have heard of people putting a small mirror on their dash beside passenger window.

Has anybody here done that, and if so how did you secure it to the dash? There are times I really miss a mirror on that side especially when reverse parking.

The photo by RSTarga is most useful, thanks. When I get around to it I'll have my body shop make the adjustment.

To follow this up, we just pulled the passenger door yesterday. It was FULL of bondo, and guess what? At some point someone actually filled and bondo'd over the original mirror holes.... so weird.

I ended up just buying a whole new door yesterday with the holes already there, so hopefully this thread helps others out!

Thanks everyone.
