Barn find 71S!!

I just walked out to the garage, I mean barn, and looked at my car.

I know that was a cheap shot but I just wanted to contribute to what seems to be some kind of 2.2S March Madness.

Is it just me or does there seem to be an inordinate amount of 2.2S barn find cars showing up this month?

Well, anyway, I guess spring is upon us and a few 2.2S's are coming out of hibernation which is a good thing...

Anyway, now's as good of time as any to show a little progress on my "barn find". I had a little rust in my suspension pan and opted to just replace the whole gizmo and make sure there were no sleeping tigers.

Nice work Bobby.
Yeah no kidding about the barn finds. I think I am going to make a point of
taking a few road trips just to raid barns...soon.

As for the pan repair, nice job aligning the panels. How difficult was it ?

It was quite easy. I just dropped it off at TRE.

I read these posts by Darryl showing the work he's done on his 912 and really envy his talent. I would have loved to have learned welding so I could do it myself but I realized that if my project was ever going to see the light of day I needed to farm this part of the project out.

Now it's time to finish removing undercoating so I can POR 15 the rest of the pan. Then it's on to the underside of the car to remove the undercoating. The plan is for rust to never be an issue again on this car.
