Loose steering wheel
Recently I had the 930S steering wheel put on by a reputable Porsche shop.
The problem that I noticed this morning, when I hold the wheel the shaft can be moved up and down, side to side about a quarter too half an inch. I checked the wheel & it's firmly bolted on. So I don't think it's a problem with the steering wheel. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Simple, cheap fix. Do a search on "steering wheel spacer"

You need the steering shaft bearing repair. Pelican sells them. I just did mine it takes about 30 min.
The hardest part is you're going to have take the steering wheel back off. The repair is a little metal sleeve that replaces the plastic one and you just slide it on and replace the steering wheel. $12 |

This is one of the easy fixes that actually is easy...my stock wheel came off very easy...although I did have to use a breaker bar to intially start the nut....picked out the old plastic sleeve in pieces mind you and slid the new metal sleeve right in. Actually the hardest part is getting the wheel back on perfectly straight...took me a few times...took it to a big empty parking lot and drove..adjusted..drove..adjusted and got it perfect...like new!

Ashley:
If it is not the bearing in the steering shaft, it may be the impact bolts that hold the upper portion of your steering column in place. They are right behind/under the tachometer. One simply needs to pull the tach out to access them. Mine were very loose. This allowed my wheel to move a little in all directions. The impact bolts were replaced with standard bolts and cranked down. Now the column is as solid as a rock for the first time in over 3 years. Good luck. Mike |

Worn Out Bushing
Mine did the same thing. It was surprisingly sudden:
The thin, green-ish part hanging over the splines is the remainder of my original plastic bushing. Replaced with a metal bushing from Pelican. Good luck, Gordo
