I brought this thread up again for the people interested in the
904 replicas. I received and email today from Rob Ginn, Chuck Becks partner with superformance. They were supposed to start production last month with the first deliveries in March. Well....he just informed me that the project is on hold indefinately! I am so pissed right now. In my mind the Beck 904 will never be built. Hes been trying to get this going for the past ten years and has had many "partners" such as Avanti, Superformace that have never worked out. Not to mention hes pushing 70 years old. M&W Technic 904 is my next choice however with the exchange rate currently, the price is US$81000.00 for a roller. I better start looking for a 2nd job!

Funny this thread should just pop up...I just saw in person the Beck #3 Prototype 904 replica last weekend at a local shop here in NJ. I saw the car and actually thought for a minute (not a second, but at least a minute) that it was real! Closer inspection, and I saw the 3.2 motor...oh, OK! It is quite the work of art, though. The tube frame is said to be far superior/stronger that the real car has. This one had a racing tank in the front, and a pretty hard core suspension set up. Weight with 3.2 motor and fluids is 1400 lbs!!!!

Has any one talked to Thunder ranch about their 904? They are at www.thunderranch.com. They also have a 550 Spyder set up for Porsche 6's instead of VW 4's. Both look interesting.

I don't recall his name but I think he was in Germany. I have no idea if he still makes them. I seem to recall the price for a rolling chassis was around $60k. Don't quote me on this; my memory isn't what it used to be. JR |

The one at *********** is NOT complete.
its a roller. you need to install your own engine and transmision. As for the 906 replica, there is a company in belgium that is producing one. it is a track car only....price $125.00 complete.

To give addition perspective in the Beck version...if you have ever seen a Beck 550 in person (one that they made), the 904 replica is exactly the quality and authentic look you would expect. Only the Fuchs and the 3.2 gave it away. Even the dash and seats looked so impossibly old school that it couldn't be a replica...

RRico,
Someone has their wires crossed - hopefully not us... My husband spent about 1/2 an hour talking to Chuck Beck last night regarding the 904. Stainless steel chassis, four piston calipers (think Wilwood - but not a brand name), Billet rear uprights using 911 bearings, etc. How can it be that production is on hold indefinately when there are customer cars that are being built and delivery's scheduled? Further, Chuck gave us his son's phone # and I am driving down to take a look at one first hand this Sunday (as long as his son and I can make the arrangement). Think you need to contact Chuck directly RRico. Get the "straight" scoop on the car. I'll do the same and let you know what I know. Would be a STINKER to have this delayed again... angela

Angela,
I have been dealing with Robb Ginn / Superformance. If this is the case, can you PM me the contact info for Chuck or his son? PS, I remember you from Spyder Club. I sold my Vintage 550 in May 2005 to get the 904.

With all the orders on the Superformance Ford GT, its no surprise they may not move forward with the 904. Its not apples and apples, but somewhat close in concept.
Re: The 906- the same folks that build the 917 replica are in process of building the 906. I've seen pics of 3 cars in process; one of them for a client of ours

OLD THREAD ALERT!!
I thought, after 11 years, it’d be interesting to see if any of you guys/gals out there have gone down this slippery slope? I’m betting it’s more “refined” than when this thread first started.
