Yes I know about the blacked out trim and wheels. One of the PO's also put an SC emblem on the engine lid. The valance was buckled from a concrete parking curb so I replaced it with a Carrera valance, I like the look of the fog lights but I don't like the "bug eye" type valance. Yes engine bay door frames trunk- everything that should be white is white. even the areas underneath the engine bay electricals, that's why I think the engine was removed. No red, I like it white. What am I looking for when I look for case savers, serts, etc.

SOmeone should be able to post a picture but they look like a little piec of metal aorund the base of the stud. In other words, you cantell the stud isn't screwedinto the same metal as the case metal. Time Serts and Case Savers are inserts to the case.

75 Carrear
No I haven't joined yet, I didn't know anything existed. I can get so crazy busy doing stuff that doesn't matter like working for a living, rebuilding houses, taking care of animals that I can go weeks without having time to look at this site. I know it's stupid I have to get my priorities in order. Let me know the procedure. |

I've actually been thinking of other cars too. Plenty I want, plenty that aren't P-cars....but I have a VERY tough time thinking of selling my dream car. I just go polish my car and the feeling goes away pretty fast!

"You realize the '74's didn't come with the blacked out window trim or black centered Fuchs?"
Dan are you sure about that trim color?

Ryan,
The 993 is my targeted "next" car too but the 75 ain't going nowhere. How sweet it would be to have our classic middie for special occassions and track events and a 993 as a daily driver... Anybody out there need a $35,000 painting?

austin..not certain about the fuch's, but i used to think the same thing about the black trim. turns out black trim was available on the '74 carrera models..
donny: right there with 'ya on the 993 for daily driving and keeping the '74 for special rides. getting the 35k? that's an issue. maybe i should just sell my house.. ![]() ryan

Re: Not mine
What wheels are these? They look very purposeful and im my opinion way cool on this mid year car. Wonder how it would look on a car w/ a duck...

It has long been my understanding; and I CERTAINLY could be wrong, that the bright trim was standard until '77 when the black trim became standard and the bright trim was optional. I knew Carrera's had the black trim, I wasn't commenting on them...but the correction is well taken. Not sure if '74 had black trim available even as an option. But in those days, Porsche would pretty much do whatever you were willing to pay for, or so I've been told.

Black trim was offered on the 1974 and 1975 Carrera's. Infact 1975 Carrera was the first year of the outside mirror to be color matched to the car color. They were the same mirror as the 1974 just painted by the factory.
