Boge Front Struts in Factory Wide Body?

Hi,

I recently bought a 84 Factory widebody (I have cert of Authenticity) M491 option. I have been sorting through the car and Have found Boge Front Struts the main Strut is black (the lower part) But the upper tin is Bilstein Green. What's going on here? Where the 84 M491 option cars shipped with Boge? or did someone change them?
Plus why is the top Green?

Thoughts?

Thanks.

I have factory 86 M491 sitting here with Boge. If the strut bodies are marked Boge, somebody must have changed or painted the caps.

sounds like the origional Boge struts were replaced with Beilstein inserts. Boge, Koni, and Belstein make inserts to fit Boge struts, or Belstein, or Koni.

So it seems the 84 Carrera Widebody M491 did come with Boge struts. If you had the choice between Boge or Bilstein which would you choice and why?

Is your '86 M491 a Coupe? Is it on my list?... http://webpages.charter.net/turbolook/

All M491 Carreras came with Boge struts. I changed mine to Bilstein so I could have raised spindles to lower the car.

I don't have a scientific answer for you. Back in the days of 1970 the 911T came with BOGE but you could get the KONI as an option, and they were adjustible, so they were better than the Boge? Then the 1973 RSR, used Beilsteins, which were not adjustible, but were gas shocks, and you could get the valving in them changed if you wanted. Koni was standred on the 911S origionally, so it was superior to the Boge?
