Unhappy Engine on my 84 911 will only start when I spray stater fluid in it

OK. after checking the fuses and relays and a thing called a DME , All seem fine....I have found that the only was I can get her to start is with starter fluid. Once I get it started she runs fine. But as soon as I turn it off. I can't get it started again without the starter fluid. Any ideas??? Thanks

Does your fuel pump run while cranking? We need more info...

Just did some more digesting of your problem. You need to check your reference sensor and connection. If I remember correctly, if your refernence sensor is not sending a signal to the DME, the fuel pump will not run. Once the engine starts, the DME switches to using the TDC sensor for timing and it will still run.

If I am wrong about this, I am sure someone will correct me.
