Sump plate sealing
At some point in its life, the sealing surface for my sump plate was damaged.
It leaks. Anyone have a recommendation to seal this up better, it gets messy. ![]()

it uses 2 gaskets--did you have those on it?Gasket screen another gasket and the strainer plate...You can always use some kind of sealant..Loctite 574 or other...

Yes, I used 2. You can see the marks at 9 oclock on the photo. Oddly enough, they look like grinder marks.
Do you combine the 574 and oem type gasket material?

yes you`ll be fine with the gasket and 574 or even Curil T2 would work

I’d try Curil T first. So much easier to clean up.

Hope it’s not stating the blindingly obvious but also check to ensure the sump plate/cover is flat. They distort easily with too much tightening and will cause leaks. I guess you could fill the grind marks with E-metal, epoxy putty or similar and file flat. It should do the job and isn’t under any real pressure.
