Another wheel spacer question...
I realised the adaptor is slightly smaller that the hub and the nuts supplied were not quite hub centric and were 21 mm on the front. I even had difficulty tightening the front spacer.
I bought them from ez asscories on ebay ... are these usual? |
Can't figure out what you're saying. The nuts aren't hubcentric, the center hole is supposed to be.
Can you explain better? |
Sorry for misleading. You see each nut is suppose to fit perfectly but when I used the torque wrench to tighten the nut I feel and see that the part that is used for screwing on the nut could be touching different parts of the hole in the wheel adaptor making it a tight fight. They supplied me with 21 mm nuts for the front adaptor and 19mm nuts for the rear..... strange. The wheel adaptor's diameter is actually smaller than the hub(the part where the wheel adaptor is screw on to(the brake disc) for the rear). This is the first time I bought wheel adaptors so I hope to get things right. The 5mm spacer which I bought fits the hub perfect and has a larger diameter than the wheel adaptor. The adaptor is hub centric the rims fit without problems. As it is slightly smaller I am worried that the adaptor may not hold on for long!
I hope you can follow through this time round! |
so the bolts are not center in the lug/nut holes? Then the adapter isn't made correct spec then.
|
I think the bolts are fine. The problem lies with the supplied nut!
|
no, I didn't say the problem is on the bolts. I said the problem is on the adapter
|
Any way you can post a picture? Are the nuts too big or something?
|
The cheaper wheel spacer kits use nuts that are rough cast and only minimally machined. They look like they wobble when you spin them on but the taper that contacts the spacer is typically machined true. Cheap kits give cheap parts....
|
Yes that exactly what I mean are they safe??? The ad stated it was the same ones that were retailing at over 200 USD. so i thought the same item. I knows nuts on spacers and or adaptors...this my first attempt buying them...can I return them to the seller.... any advise? I am getting worried.
|
I don't think the wheels are going to fall off if that's what you are worried about. Tons of people are running the cheap spacers\nuts without issue. If I was racing, I would use quality nuts...For a low powered, narrow tired street car, probably not as important but that's just my .02.
With that said....... what's your piece of mind worth? |
My adaptors use 19mm nuts front and back - same size as the wheel nuts.
