Red face Euro 911S 1977 & SSI's

I have been reading all the posts on SSI's and whether the 1977 911S model is thin or thick flanged! and i am totally confused. My car is a Euro import 2.7 911S 1977 but I cant figure out should I order thick or thin flanges!!!! for SSI's?

Can someone please set me straight!

The easy answer is to look at the exhaust under the car and know for sure. If you don't know what they should look like, snap a picture and post it.
At the end of the day, you should replace the studs anyway and you can put on what length you need depending on what flange you get.
For example, I have a stock 3.2 Carrera with thick flanges. I replaced the exhaust with a thin flange header system and put in new studs, as the ones in there were original and should have been replaced anyway.
If the exhaust has never been off, just undoing the nuts on the studs will be a challenge and you will likely end up breaking a few studs that will need to be replaced.

Thin Flange. The thick flanges started on the 3.2 in 1984.

My 80' SC is thick flange, in fact I'm using 3.2 SSI's on it, no modifications.

Not really.
The 1980 US SC has thick flanges.
Just have a look at the studs that are on this '77.
You may consider replacing the shorter studs with longer ones because the thick flanges dissipate heat a little better.
If you stay with the short studs, the biggest problem for removing the nuts that people do not use enough heat resulting in broken studs.
You'll need an Acetylene torch with a small tip, heat red-hot, let it cool slightly for a dull red, then use the socket or Allen to open the nut.
You'll find Allen barrel nuts and regular hex nuts usually rusted on the system.

I installed thick flange SC w/O2 bung in case i want to run a meter. I also ordered an extra bung for other SSI and 2 caps.
