Fuch's center.......flat, satin, or gloss?
I'm refurbishing my wheels and I would like to know what is the original finish on the black center? Is it flat, satin, or gloss black? I'm also repainting my targa rollbar to match the finish of the wheels. What do you guys think? Your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

John,
I think the factory was closer to satin. They were clear annodized all over and painted black in the centers. It really depends how much you polish the paint. Many people polish the black painted portion to a high gloss shine. The factory, I believe, was closer to satin. Good Luck. My original 6 & 7s were Chrome paddles with gloss black.
Have Fun! Now I have 7 & 9s with polished paddles and satin black. I think the gloss would have been better. Maybe next time. http://www.cheaterswayside.com/uploads/3141.jpg ------------------ Nick Hromyak '85 Carrera |
My wheels are unmodified factory 16x7/8. I always assumed they were flat black faces, but the factory clear coat may look satin to some people. I personally don't like any of the polishing, the grip patches in front of the rear wheels, the window trim, and most of the other black surfaces (rear grill) makes me want to avoid gloss at all costs.

The answer: None of the above!
The finish is "matte" If you buy the Wurth Matte Black wheel paint you will duplicate the wheel finish exactly. Because that is what the factory uses. |
Thanks Jim, and thank you everyone for your response. I'll post the results.
