New-bee with new to me '87 3.2 G50

Hi everyone,

First off, this is my first post ... I've been lurking forever while I've been searching forever for a 911. I've finally found one.

It's an '87 3.2, G50 - has just over 39K miles, has had 2 owners, all documentation from day 1. New in the last 5 years - st.steel exhaust, Bilstiens and tires. It's all original - paint, interior, no rain, snow or salt driving. It's a really clean car - there's barely a mark on anything - paint, interior or undercarriage.

I'm basically a PPI away from completing the deal. I've really benefited from the various posts about 911 watch-outs... I'm actually more concerned about the low millage on this car with potential problems lurking due to lack of use. Is there anything I should be looking for that may or may not come up during a pre-purchase inspection?

I'd also like to note that this forum has really been a wealth of information and a source of inspiration - thanks in advance

Lino B.

Great looking car and I also like the other old cars in your stable. The old pros here can keep you out of trouble or get you out of trouble when you get in too deep. Welcome aboard...so where are you located?

Nice looking car! Problems with low miles, really depends on how and when the miles were put on, and how the car was cared for. If it was driven 39,000 miles in the first year, then left basically to sit unused for 19 years, you will have problems. If the miles have been spread out, and the car used and maintained regularly, you'll be fine.

I have an '87 with 32,000 miles on it, I maintain it regularly and drive it every 3 weeks or so to keep it in good condition. I've never had any problems with it.

Well at least you know the rules and posted a picture - The low miles are great - for most components - just watch oil consumption... and drive that bad boy! Love the color - Welcome.

Love the MGA and Datsun - I imagine they will get driven less with the 87 in the garage...

I'm about an hour west of Toronto, Ontario - soon to be buried under about 12" of snow in the next 24hours.

Old cars are all that's ever been in my stable - my '91 BMW is the newest car I've ever owned!

Thanka again ...

Very nice, Lino.

An hour west of Toronto? London? Toronto here.

There's a number of older Pcars around. Make sure you watch the Canada forums here & on Rennlist for help & summer activities.

Excellent find!

Only thing to check based upon my low mileage 87 would be the oil lines for leaking, AC system, brakes & emergency brake condition, tires are they greater than 5 yrs old.

These are the highest probability areas of concern depending upon how often the car was driven.

I'm about 1/2 way between Toronto and London (Guelph)

Thanks for the tips ...

The datsun's see regular summer use - (1) 240 is set up for tack days - lots of engine / suspension mods, but stock body. Other 240z I turned into a convertible - pretty much a show car and only comes ot on really nice days. The 67.5 is in a million pcs - frame up resto in progress, MGA runs but needs attention - next in line for frame up resto.

I'm hoping to not have to wrench as much on the 911 - but - I've never been one to leave well enough alone.
