Need pics of 911 in Peyton, CO.

Greetings.
Looking for someone who can take some pics of a 911SC in Peyton that I've purchased sight un-seen (25 miles NE from Co. Springs). Will compensate for time and trouble.
Many thanks.

Exactly how much compensation? I'm a professional photographer based in Boulder. www.tomwintermedia.com, you can email me directly via tom@tomwintermedia.com to discuss details.

74 miles from me, I could do it, I'm not however a professional photographer. Might be a fun trip actually, I've never been there.

Tom,
lol. Anytime I preface a statement with "I'm a professional ..." it means that I'm going to probably need to charge my prevailing rates for stated task. I'm looking for a salt of the earth kind of guy with a digital camera that lives close by and wants to help a Porsche fellow out and make a few bucks for his time or needs some Porsche parts for his project. I appreciate your offer but this is a derelict parts car that doesn't justify any more money spent on it. Good to know who to contact for photography in the Denver area though.

Scott R,
74 miles is more inconvenient than I was hoping. Let me see what else shakes out of the trees and maybe we'll work something out.

Thanks a bunch.

Guys,

Who wants to do a mini-tour from Denver to do this?
I'll bring my digital camera. It is good enough to get acceptable images of Wayne's 959.

I have a ’74 Targa 3.0 that needs exercise so it will pass emissions.

How about we get together tomorrow (Sunday) morning? Say 7 AM at The Village Inn at Colorado Blvd. and I-25. I suspect we can be home by noon. Anyone want to ride/drive with me?

Please email me.

Best,
Grady

Grady:

I'm too far away to join you guys, otherwise I'd be there in a heart beat! Did you ever get back in touch with the guy with the 911 in the hangar? Let me know if there's anything I can do to help on that one.

Cheers,

Paul.

Cool! Coffee, donuts and a splash of 92 are on me!
I'll post the address info shortly in case this pans out.

Many thanks.

Send a message via AIM to Gogar
If the Denver crew doesn't work out, you might PM Yasin (slownrusty), He lives in the Springs. Or slownomore, who just moved there.

That sounds great, actually...

Don't know yet if I can make it, have potential conflict...

Will check back this evening.

Tom

P.S. And at this altitude (Mile High) we don't have 92. Have 91, 87 and 85.

OK, here is the plan.
The car and engine are in a storage unit in Peyton.
I’ll organize with the owner and the storage manager this afternoon (Sunday) and arrange for access Monday morning.

We can meet at the Village Inn 4100 E. Mexico Ave. (NE corner of I-25 and Colorado Blvd.) at 6:00 AM (or is that too early?) and leave by 6:30.

I thought we would go out Parker Road, through Elizabeth, south past the Scout camps to Peyton. I’m open to other suggestions.

If anyone from the Springs or other wants to join, let me know and we can arrange a meeting place and time en route.

This is a ‘lower than speed limit’ tour, not a ‘canyon run’.

Best,
Grady

The Black & White Targa felt right at home in the VI parking lot.
Denver’s finest wanted to trade and install a light bar on the Targa bar.

Best,
Grady

still2slow - I was thinking compensation for gas, not images. Particularly because the trip from Boulder is a bit of a hike.

The "professional" only applies to the camera/lenses/flash that I would take along for the ride on this project, and the results, which would probably be more illustrative of the total state of the vehicle than what you'd get with a digital point and shoot. Obviously this isn't the kind of job that I'd consider "work". Nor would I ever charge to shoot something like this.

However, sounds like there's a crew headed that way, and it also sounds like the car in question "derelict parts car" as you say, probably won't hold too many surprises and images from a point n shoot should work nicely.

Good luck with the project, I hope it works out.

Grady,

Are you going Monday AM? I would not mind a nice run through that countryside. Let me know what time you are planning on meeting at the VI. Did you already do the run this morning (Sunday)?

I am a bit confused.

Grady,

I'm confused also. Did you go?
I really appreciate you running with this. It's always inspiring to see sense of community play out. Please let me know how I can help you guys.
If you haven't left, have a fun, safe trip.

Thanks,
Frank Beck

The ‘tour’ is tomorrow (Monday, Memorial Day 5/26/08).
We will meet at the Village Inn at 6 AM, leaving at 6:30.

I need to confirm with the storage manager and the owner (seller) that we can get access about 8 AM. I’m supposed to be able to call the manager after 2 PM today.

I’ll report back.

Best,
Grady

OK,

PLAN CONFIRMED

We meet at the Village Inn at 6:00 AM tomorrow, Monday, May 26, 2008.
At 6:30 we head to Payton (about 1.5 hours) and meet the storage owner about 8 AM. He has access to the 911 and the engine (in pieces). The plan is to get good images of the car and sorta inventory the engine pieces. While it won’t be possible to insure every single part is there, we can insure the important pieces are there. Apparently there was a dispute between a shop and the (now deceased) owner. We need to insure (the best we can) that all the parts are there. No shinagains.

Depending on the time, perhaps early lunch at the Stagecoach Inn in Franktown (just north of CO 86 & CO 83) might be fun. This was a stage stop between Colorado Springs and Denver. (Don’t say anything disparaging about the bikers. They appreciate our Porsches in proportion of our appreciation of their cool ‘hogs’. )

The storage owner has agreed to be communications central if necessary. Ed’s number is 719-749-2690 but we should use him as a last resort.

Best,
Grady
