My 1985 Garage Queen
I bought this a couple of months back, but I am just now getting time to take some decent pictures. As you can tell from the pictures it has been very well cared for. I am still having some trouble getting swirl marks out from old polish jobs but I am gaining ground. It is lightly modified with Bilsteins, Weltmeister, Sway-away, etc. It drives very well, but I am still not in love with the clunky, vague feel of the gearbox.
If, the pictures look a little over or undercooked I apologize. I am working with 2 new software programs and they display the picture very differently on my screen. I'll should figure them out with this post ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

What a beautiful car! I love the BBS wheels - you don't see those on 911s all that often, but they look great.
Yeah, the 915 gearbox is a bit clunky and vague. That can be part of the charm of these cars, but having said that if I had the option of improving the gearchange on my '84 in some way I would! One thing I would recommend is that you fit something like the Seinne Systems gate shift kit if you don't have something like that fitted already. I fitted one to my car and found that it does help to make the gear change feel a little less vague.

The 915 transmission is an acquired taste. Just drive it for a while and you will get the hang of it. Also, service the gear box with Swepco and you may notice an improvement in feel.

swirl marks
Steve
Great looking car! Swirl marks can be a real problem. At least you had good paint to start with. Best advice I was given is always clay bar the car before starting to polish. Worked for my son and I on our old 912. Scott ![]()

Nice car. Get it out of the garage and drive it! A Porsche is a terrible thing to waste!

A cream puff... She's a beauty.
I like the look of the leather shifting boot a lot better than my "84" Michelin Man bellows type. Also you might improve the shifting by replacing the nylon bushings at the bottom of the shifter, plus getting an after market shift coupler. You probably need to have another experienced "P" owner drive your car to see if that's the problem before jumping in and replacing parts that you don't need.

Awesome find for you. That interior is beautiful. So where in middle TN are you. If you have not heard by now, a few of us like to get together once a month. PM me your email address and I will add you to our list if you would like. I am in Jackson, but we have guys from Murphreesboro to Memphis get together.
Nice car!
