Anyone have an MSD 6200 I could borrow?
I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have an MSD 6200 CD box I could borrow for Aug. 6? I'm absolutely sick of throwing money at this power problem that's dogging me at the track. (see here for the details: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=411975)
All signs point to an ignition problem, and I've replaced the coil, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points and CD box with a Perma Tune blue I got off ebay, so the last thing to check is maybe going with a known-good MSD box, in hopes that the multiple sparks will overcome the problem (if indeed the problem is in the ignition). But like I said, I'm sick of throwing money at it, and these boxes are $200 plus shipping, so if anyone has one I could borrow for Aug. 6, I would be extremely grateful! If local I'll pick up and drop off, if not I'll cover shipping costs both ways. This would be a straight swap into my 72 911 with original 2.4 engine, for one track day at Mosport. And of course if anything happened to it I'd replace it. Thanks! |
bump - anyone?

Christien, sorry I can't help at lending you a 6200 box. But why don't you send yours to msd and have it fixed. I've had a couple repaired and it was only $40 shipped.
BTW I wouldn't run a 6200. They have too may problems. See if you can find a hvc 6600 series. Look on e-bay, many of the teams around here sell them there or at muscle motorsports. |
I don't have an MSD, I have the original Bosch and a Perma Tune. It's been suggested that the MSD might cure my problem, but I want to try one out first to eliminate that variable.
I was always under the impression that the 6200 was the only one I could run in my car? |
I'd try a fuel psi gauge right before the carbs with the line going into the cabin so you could watch it.
