Video of trip home in my 911

UPDATED LINK - fixed the hole in the dadgummed music....

At long last, the video of our road trip, picking up the car in Houston & driving back to Tuscaloosa - the long way. Yeehaw!

I saw a SINGLE late-model Cayman, lovely dark blue, on the interstate in south Alabama - that was the only other Pcar I saw the whole trip. And I was definitely looking!

I'd be embarrassed to say how long I spent putting it all together! If I were more skilled it wouldn't take me so long - and I wouldn't have a 20 second hole in the music at the end. Maddening! But also great fun. Love to watch them myself when they're done

thanks Kathy

were those cars parked close to you on the ferry, or what?
sweating bullets?

our parish sent a bunch of volunteers and supplies to Bay St. Louis for a period of about 14 months to help get them back on their feet. Looks like they're headed in the right direction, but still a long way to go.

Well it doesn't show in the photo, but I left about FIVE FEET between me and the car in front of me, and I kind of ticked off the ferry boat guy by parking and getting out and leaving it like that There was room for one more big car behind me, 2 more wouldn't have fit anyway.

My husband and I were on our little summer vacation in Biloxi the last weekend of August 2005 as Katrina was coming in, left with the evacuation traffic (got the best vacation punchline ever: You know your beach vacation is OVER when Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel starts doing live remotes from outside your hotel room). 250 miles north in our town of Tuscaloosa, we had thousands of displaced folks & I took 2 wks vacation to work full-time in our Red Cross shelter in Sept. The whole thing really touched us so deeply. It was surreal to go back later and see that every road we drove, place we ate, hotel we slept in, was wiped off the map. Stunning. We've gone back for a drive-thru at least each summer since to see how it's doing. It's sad to see it still so rough, but encouraging to see signs of life & recovery, slow as it's been.

Great video and adventure! A year ago this March, I drove my '74 911 from Detroit to West Palm Beach, FL and back. Try a long roadtrip soon, you'll love it! Congrats!!

You're a trip! I think you will have a long loving relationship with your 911. Cool music in the video. I like to drive to some good electronic music. (Crystal Method especially).
Any questions on your car can be answered here most of the time. Have fun!

Kathy,

I bought my 911 in Odessa, TX (WAAAAY west) and drove it back to Atlanta. Long drive but a nice bonding experience with the new car, eh?

Have fun with it!

Jay

Ha! Awesome! It was a great bonding experience to be sure. I loved it! So what year is your 911? How long ago did you get it? Has it been as fun as you'd hoped?
