Hey Jack

How is it that your Black Beauty doesn't lose the details in the shots - its such a hard colour to photograph with all the reflections.

My simple approach: never photograph a black car in direct sunlight. You'll see it's in the shade of those rocks in my picture. It gets fill light from the fact that it was early morning, but if the sun has a direct line to it, you'll get too much contrast.

My car is GP White and the curves just fade out in sunlight. I'll give your tip a try. At least it will hide the chips in the valance.

Yes, that is the way to get good reflections: indirect lighting.
