I was s reading through the recient threads here and was courious about the one posted by ... Idrill. Courious about the comment back from Porsche, I am the original owner of my CE I watched it delivered to the dealer in July 1988. I have the window sticker that has the CE option listed on it and there was never a medallion on the glove box. I have read about them and wonder if it got missplaced by the dealer and never installed. But for the record I don't have headlight washers either. also have not seen any other ones with headlight washers either and i have seen around 15 in person ...very courious reaction from Porsche ...

Is there anybody who had one on the glove box in the US? It seems there are some without headlight washers, nothing to bother about. Porsche is not always right ,when asked.

On a separate but related note - a couple months ago I did some research here about Fuchs wheels and refinishing them. Someone put up a post and great pix of their project - doing their own refinishing in the CE Diamond Blue color. I finally found some wheels and would like to do the same thing (I have a CE coupe). I've searched several ways and cannot find that thread. If anyone could provide a pointer I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I own a 88 Targa CE, US spec that was imported to Portugal in the 90's. As far as I understood by other threads, it's one of 80 US spec targas.

That is correct. You and I are one of the privileged 80 owners.
Hard to tell how many of the 80 cars are still around?? I have owned alot of 911's but this one is truly special and becoming a family heirloom. Mine was purchased from the original owner that ordered the car. It was/is kept in PCA concurs condition. I have every paper, tag, window sticker, etc.. that came with the car from new. Quote:

On a 1988 Commemorative Edition Cab, what were options were included in the CE package?
Is this correct: Diamond Blue Metallic Paint Silverblue Metallic Partial Leather Shorter Gear Shift Lever Power Operated Top Supple Leather Seats Ive heard where some cars came with the model designation on the rear deck, and others did not. One car I am looking at does not have the rear model designation and the COA says rear model designation delete. What I want to know is did SOME CE editions come with rear model designation delete as part of the CE package, while others did not? I.E. if the car doesnt have the rear model designation and its a CE car, its likely the option (498) was part of the CE package? |

Options differed slightly between CE's built for North American delivery vs. ROW. All NA cars came from the factory with the following options:
158 Radio "Reno" 243 Shorter Gear Shift Lever 498 Without Rear Model Designation 980 Seat Cover - Raff - Leather The interior/exterior colors and the color-matched 15" x7/8 wheels were standard equipment on these special editions. For ROW CE's, in addition to the above: Headlight Washer System Intensive Washer System The original purchaser could have added other options to an ordered car. The dealer or a previous owner could have added the deck badge. |

But Reno Radio was not part of the CE price "package", correct? It may have been on every CE, but it was a line item additional priced option? Ive seen a CE window sticker and Reno Radio was extra. The CE was like $3600 on coupes and $2300 on cabs and targa.
Was the power top part of the CE package on cabs? |

MY CE brochure list the Blaupunkt ''Charleston" as the standard equipment am/fm radio.
The "Reno" is listed as the optional unit. The special edition interior & package was $3600. The "Reno" was $144. And yes the power top part of the CE package on the Cab. I am 2nd owner. |

Hi guys! I love the Diamond Blue and was going to bid on the 88 CE at the Amelia Island auction this weekend, but my car broke down on the way to the auction. Once I was on my way again it was on the block while I was on the phone with the auction house. 53K miles, absolutely mint. Went for $42K. I had been searching for the right car in my price range for a while. Sold one of my 914s and my mint 1987 Scirocco 16V that was actually supposed to be at Amelia Island this weekend, but I sold it a month ago to help pay for this 911. I'm really pissed that I missed it because my car broke down. Anyway, I was just wondering if any of you have a coupe for sale. If so please let me know. Thanks!

A CE with 53k miles in #1 condition should be worth at least 20k more than that. Even #2 condition should be worth at least 50k. $42k is what a normal good condition G50 is selling for these days.
Which auction did it sell at? I've searched high and low at the auction results and can't find any trace of a 911 CE being auctioned this year. |

the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. Victory Motorcars just sold one for $42 couple weeks ago, same condition in just a few miles more. Unfortunately I was too late on that one.
Most consider these to be not worth any more than a regular 88, just a different color combo. And everyone I've seen sold has sold as such. I just really like that color. And I think that is a very good fair price for these cars. $20,000 more is an inflated dealer price. |

I've been looking for my dad's old one for a few years. Does anyone have any knowledge of one that was bought new in Knoxville, TN and then moved to TX? Sold in 93 or 94 from my dad to someone and then that person was going to sell it back to him in the 2000s and ended up keeping it and moving to TX. I know it's a long shot but maybe someone that bought it is on here.

How many of the 875 cars had the option "Turbo-Look".
There is one official picture from Porsche that shows a 911 CE targa and a 911 CE Convertible with Turbolook? danke, Andreas info@berlinmotorbooks.de |

Andreas, I've never seen or heard of a turbo-look CE. Perhaps the photo was taken before the production decisions were finalized.

Very interesting. It looks like the wide body cabriolet has a 964 automatic spoiler on the back. I can see the lip of it. That tells me this car may have been modified to also include aftermarket fender flares. Who knows?
