Carb line clearance prob with K&N..see pics

Is this the way these lines were originally installed? I am converting to K&N's but the fuel lines are in the way. When I did some searches on K&N setups and I see that these side ports are aligned horizontally and the fuel line goes straight across not up in an arch. I have two questions, how do I turn these ports and what part number on Pelican is the fuel line tubing so I can put new ones on.

NO!!! That looks like some shade tree wanna be solution. I just checked and I don't have any good pictures, but I would highly recommend the PMO fuel rails even over the stock line that should be horizontal between the two fittings.

This is an old shot, and if you look close you can see the hose sitting horizontally. I'll take a shot of the PMO fuel rails I have tomorrow.

Thanks, I am gong to call them next week for a vapor kit as well. How do I rotate the fittings back. Does the bolt unscrew and allow the fitting to spin until the bolt is locked down again.

I see, the entire fitting is switched out. Anything I should know removing the old parts or putting the new ones on. Never played around with the carburetor.

Unscrew the bolts and then move them so fittings are horizontal. There is a schematic drawing for the carbs at weber -carbs- direct .

Ronnin, thanks for getting those pics, me and my cell phone camera never get along.

When you get the fuel rails, unscrew the bolts and and the fitting come right off. What I don't recall, as it's been years since I swapped them out, is if the kit comes with the gaskets you need (8 total). Have a rag handy to soak up spilled gas. It's a pretty straight forward and worthwhile change.

+ 1 for the pmo fuel bars. You can make your fuel system re-circulate.

I am about to replace these lines with the PMO fuel rails myself. I remember my mechanic telling me to be very careful when removing those banjo bolts. It is best to use a 6 point socket and an impact wrench, and to make sure the socket has as much purchase as possible and is square on the bolt to avoid rounding it off. Since the bolt is shallow, I've read of people grinding down the face of the socket to remove the cambered section, just so there is more contact with the bolt surface.

Use, use a 6-point socket (not impact gun) and handle to loosen the banjo bolts.

A banjo bolt sandwiches the fluid input fitting between two crushable washers. To ensure against leakage, whether using the factory setup as shown or the PMO fuel log, use new crush washers. The aftermarket products usually provide al. crush washers. The factory washers are fiber.

In a pinch, I've used Loctite 574 (crankcase sealant) on both sides of used factory fiber washers, then waited a few hours to set up.

I see in the pics you all run you your fuel lines to a guaged housing before it splits. Could someone talk a little on this. What are you monitoring with the guage(fuel presssure I soppose), what make do you use, and any technical installtion thoughts on how and why to do this.

Typically a fuel pressure gauge to monitor line pressure to the carbs. Pressure should be approx. 3-4.5 psi. The fuel gauge and bracket commonly used is provided by PMO.

It's a very simple installation. You vary the fuel pressure to achieve the desired 3 to 4.5 psi on the gauge simply by screwing down on, or off of, a little metal collar that fits around the fuel-return line. It's so simple that some wrongly hold it in contempt as some sort of kludge, which it isn't.

Perhaps I should clarify. The use of the impact wrench is not to apply large amounts of torque (which should be dialed down), but rather to provide a better chance that the socket is held firmly and squarely on the brass bolt when the torque is applied.

I did the Aeroquip many moons before those fuel rails were available. This set-up is about twice the price of the rails....but they're still not leaking. .....
