				I found a wierd "barn find" today
			 
			Ok, I went to look at 914 today siting in a guys front yard, we got to talking and he say he has a 912-titled as a 911 though...I go in the garage to check it out and it all covered up with stuff as it has been for years...I the engine *900943* 901/01 was out and had been rebuilt in the past couple of years.  There was a set of Weber's siting in the corner.  Anyway told me again it was a 912...the vin on the title is 457062 (912)  I could not get to any numbers on the car except the engine number.  However I could get to the engine compartment easily.   I am going back on Wednesday to pick up the 914 and see if I can buy the 912/911 will update once I get the VIN off the car.

			I'd make sure you see the entire car before you make any offers.  Not uncommon in the late '70's and early '80's (when the early cars were plentiful and relatively cheap) after a major front end accident, the damaged car would receive a front clip from a roller, complete with VIN plate.  After Frankenstein was created and brought to life, the owner had a choice about which VIN to use.  Probably didn't happen here but you never know until you know...

			Reminds me of when I was looking for a 911.  Drove a 72 with a 901 tranny.  Tried to convince me it was a rare car with carry-over from 71.  Upon closer inspection...ummmm.....no.  Good luck though hope it all works out.

			There was a 911 that had a 912 VIN # on the aluminum tag, but the body stamping was correct. Please follow up with me on this odd one.

It's obvious that Porsche wasn't concerned about keeping accurate records on the early cars that left the factory.  All you have to do is waste your money on a "Certificate of Authenticity" to find that out.  But they were so lazy that they'd let an error like that out the factory door?!  Wow.

			Found the thread here: http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21129 Vin 301235 / 450235, but the type # was correct as a 911.

			i always wanted to drop a 6 in one or maby even a v8 if its in bad enough shape and wide fenders. make a bada$$ beater on the cheap. thats quite a progect though
