Engine and trans mounts
I was replacing my engine mounts today with new sport mounts and I ran into something I can't sort out. On the left side, both washers were placed with the concave face against the rubber, which seemed to make sense - they fit over the rubber in the mount.
When I pulled the right side mount, the lower washer was placed with the concave side facing downward, against the crossbar. I was pretty sure it was wrong, but I wanted to make certain so I went to the authorities:
- Bentley doesn't give any indication of the proper orientation in the text and in their diagrams the washers appear to be flat.
- I can't find my '101 projects' for direction. Anyone have theirs handy?
- I searched here for pictures or clear answers, but found nothing but pictures of WEVO bling.
I still think the left side was correct, but in seeing pictures of trans mounts in recent posts, it seems that the mounts were designed to have that side against a convex surface. Then I found descriptions where some trans mounts used one washer while some used two.
Does anyone know the single, undeniable truth to this? I didn't have time to get to my trans mounts to see if they have one or two washers, but I'll be replacing them tomorrow.
