17" diameter rear wheels matched to 16" diameter front wheels.

I guess you are right, since the Fuchs wheels have some dept to them. I saw some pics of racing Porsches that had this staggered setup, so I gave it a try. The ride is quite good, although I'm thinking of getting me the 17x7's for the front at some point to make the rims equal.

Lower than Euro. Quickchange torsion bars, 225/45/17 fronts, 255/40/17 rears.

i hope you aree still here and in this great 964, do i see shortened bumpers on this porsche? if so, was it your work and, again, if so, is there a thread somewhere on the process...looks absolutely great...
