Which Tail???

My car as you can see currently has a turbo tail. The fasteners on the rubber portion have begun to fail. I am trying to decide whether to replace the rubber portion of this tail, find and install a duck-tail, or find a lid with no tail and install it. I drive the car tons and do 3 or 4 track events per year. Interior has RS door panels and carpet with seats from an RSA.

Thanks.

The ducktail will be your lightest option...It will also provide some aero benefit at the track...replacing the rubber will be your cheapest option but also the heaviest...the smooth lid and ducktail will need to be pained to match....my personal opinion is go with the ducktail as I think it enhances the look of the car....the Turbo tail is a bit large for the narrower flares....but that is just my opinion....I am also a bit biased as I run a ducktail....

Switching from an OEM turbo tail to a duck saved 24 pounds. And, IMO, it looks better. Win-win.

You'd save a bit more weight with a plain deck but you lose the aero benefits. Win-lose.

What about a '76/'77 style turbo tail? I think these look good with SC flares, are lightweight and the aero is much better than a ducktail...

What about saving the turbo tail for the track where it might come in handy? Then getting a regular lid for running around on the street. Kind of the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I need one of each.
