Question about mounting sparco seat on stock seat sliders

Hey there,

So, i have ordered a brand new sparco milano beige alcantara sport seat. I know that sparco makes sliders and a mount that the slider fits in to, but when i was talking to my mechanic today, he said that it is possible to pull the slider off of the bottom of the stock driver's seat. He didn't know if it would mount on the sparco since i guess the stock seat is a recaro.

Does anyone know if I would be able to have the stock slider from the bottom of the driver's seat mounted directly on to the sparco seat? It seems like that would be a phenomenal solution - obviously less expensive than having to purchase the mount and slider assembly for a sparco seat, but im concerned that if i purchase the standard mount and slider combo for the sparco seat, that it will end up sitting higher than the stock seat does, giving me that lousy feeling of feeling like im sitting on the car instead of snugly in it.

Thanks for any advice or input that can be given!

Michael

Hi,
You can definitely take the Recaro slider from the stock seat - and potentially use it for the Sparco. The question is whether any of the holes will line up for bolting. You won't know that until you look at it. If needed, you might be able to drill a hole or two to make a fit. If you buy just the Sparco bottom mount bracket, worst case scenario probably is having to drill a couple holes in that to bolt to the Recaro slider. As for height, you won't know that until you try it either, unless you have accurate dimensions on each seat. For example, it's possible the Milano has a slimmer seat cushion than the stock seat, and you actually might want to mount it a bit higher than stock.

Michael,

I just did this last year, installing a set of EVO2 in my 85. the sliders on the driver's power seat were welded to the power assembly so they will not work. but I did take the stock slider off the non-power passenger seat. also reused the OEM seat belt attachment. I had to drill one hole to match up with the BreyKrause sparco side mounts.

for the drivers seat, I used sparco sliders and the BK OEM seat belt connector. I kept the OEM 3pt along with installing 5pt harnesses.

good luck

you dont mention a year of car, power seats or not. if the new seat is side or bottom mount? i did a non power seat mounting with sparco side mounts w/o drilling. i did use the passenger slider in addition to the drivers when mounting. this will require hard mounting the passenger seat or getting another single slider. my SC had two sliders per seat, one would lock the seat in position, the other was free at all times. dont know if this makes any sense in your application?? i used both lock in sliders on the drivers seat as the car was set for track duty pretty much exclusively.

i mounted the sliders to the seat brackets, then the brackets to the car. last couple bits--- make sure you can get to both front & rear 10mm bolts with the seat brackets in place on the slider. i had to move the sliders up to tighten the rear & back to get the front tight. also consider the width of the seat before final tightening.

small finger job.

Sorry

the seat is going in to an 81 sc targa. Manual seats on both sides.

I believe thatthis seat is bottom mounting.

Am I wrong in thinking that since it is bottom mounting that I should be able to take the sliders from the drivers seat and directly install them on to the sparco seat bottom?

This seat appears like it has a significant amount of cushoning on the seat bottom, so I think that the potential for being too low to the ground is minimized. It is also minimized by the fact that I'm tall. 6'2"

thanks for the feedback so far. The seat should be delivered tomorrow, so I'll know more a that point about this specific seat's dimensions.
