Dumb luck and clean living finally pay off

Went home for lunch as normal today, had a nice bowl of homemade chili and
relaxed a bit.
Got back in the car to get back to work, turn the key, engine turns over and
wont fire.
Hmmmmm. I've had spark troubles in the past, so break out the timing light
hook it up and I've got spark, at least on #1. But I don't smell any fuel, so
I turn the switch on and lift the plate (whats the name?) and no whine no
fuel.
Make sure the fuse is seated, no help. Swap the relay no help.

So I take a closer look at the fuse..... the metal had cracked right were it
folds over the top of the ceramic.
Now how often do you have a problem while sitting in your garage? I'm thinking
of all the places this could have happened, in the middle of an intersection
in the pouring rain yesterday!

So I got very lucky, of course I didn't have a 25amp fuse, so put in a 16amp
and went to the closest Autozone. Bought an assortment pack that even
included the "rare" yellow 5amp. $2.99 invested today in the Porsche.

I hope my luck hasn't run out for the week.

Jay

Yeap, I always keep an Autozone pack and DVM in my baby at all times just to make sure. Oh yeah DME relay too.

AAA card helps too with unlimited towing.

Glad it was a simple fix.

I was thinking our baby's realy need a portable pit crew.

Lesson learned

That was a 72.50 lesson for me as it cost 70.00 for the tow back to the house only to sit for a couple of days while I researched. I found it and kicked myself for a week.

Great diagnostic skills you have.

I had a similar thing with a fuse happen to me. Good idea to take a close look at all your fuses especially when they get to be over fifteen years old like many of us here.

Does anyone have a convenient source that sells bullet fuses for our cars in a pack so someone could replace very fuse. I use McMaster Carr, maybe someone has another source?

Yeah the King has been very kind to me. But I've also done the flat bed thing.... not good. I had every fuse but the 25 amp, I do need to pickup another fuel pump relay.

Draco, the pit crew thing is a good idea, on long trips I take my wife.... incase I need to push start.

Thank you, Thank you very much.

Individual fuses not available and the kit is incomplete. But I would always advocate buying from our host if possible.
