Very Sadly my 911 is Totaled

Hi, Guys, My 911 is no more, it is a dead Porsche, however I want to bring him back to life in another vehicle as the motor is A1. The Insurance Company has now paid me and I need a new project.

My question is would the motor fit in a VW camper Van?

All the best, Rib.

Thanks

Thanks for the info, I thought it was possible.
I am fine waked away from the crash, if I had an airbag I wouldn't have had any injuries-broken nose and huge black eye.
Touched the gravel on a bend on a country road giving it the gun, lost the back-end, managed to straighten it up but hit an on coming car. They had no injuries other than shock-they had airbags.

Rib,

Bus with Porsche power... hmm... check out my friend Walter's homepage. I'm sure he will build one for you... Bugbox

If you like something more modern search for "VW TH2" a company in Berlin building T5 Busses with GT2 Engines or as TH2RS which top speed is 311 km/h...

Good that not more happend to you..

I had a simular decision to make when my '83 Cab was totaled.

Fortunately for me I had a '75 Targa with pulled head studs in storage.

I ended up putting the good SC motor in the Targa. Nearly a year later I am almost done.

I bought the Cab back from the insurance company and stripped it for every usable nut and bolt.

That helped a lot during the resto. I'll post before and after photos in a bit.

I say consider buying a 911 roller and bring her back to life.

But your motor in a mid 80's Westfalia would be cool.

In any case, glad you are ok.

Yes it will fit in a van, but I would suggest a Subaru conversion for the van and use the P-car engine the way it was intended, in a P-car.

I was in the same boat 15 months ago, when a 70 year old lady going the wrong way on a one way road pulled out in front of us and killed my car (in my sig line).

First off, hope you heal up fine, the car died so you could live............these 911's absorb a TON of energy.

Keep the car and part it out, your car is now an Organ Donor, and its parts will make many other 911 owners keep the smile on their faces!

My Dead Red Car..........

First of all, I hope you're ok and heal up fine.
Luckily nobody was hurt seriously or permanently.

Are you parting what's left out?? (except for the engine)

In my case the car was insured at X dollars. The insurance company assigns a salvage value Y and deducts the salvage value Y from the insured value X. You get the difference.

For my 1983 Cab with 135,000 miles and leather power seats that salvage value was $3,500

I was waiting for someone to mention the race taxi. Probably the only VW bus in existence that would smoke a few of the cars here.

I've seen a local Porsche shop (Akers) VW Vanagon with a 930 motor chase down a dweeb in a Nissan 300ZX that cut in front of him on a freeway on ramp. The Vanagon ran right up the tailpipe of the Nissan and the ricer couldn't shake him for nothin. Yes it can be done, and the motor certainly sounds better than the Subaru conversions which seem like they aren't hitting on all cylinders.
