Early Fuchs and Safety bead
Do the Fuchs P/N 911.361.020.[00] wheels have the proper safety bead and can they be used without tubes? Are there any tire mounting problems to be aware of? Are these deep dish wheels?
I became aware of the bead by searching thru the archives...see http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10008

AFAIK the early "deep" tube-type Fuchs have 901. part numbers.
Regardless, they do work fine with modern tubeless tires; however, they are not advisable for agressive or track driving, particularly with modern 'DOT-4' race compound rubber. Best left to the pure weekend/street/concours cars

Thanks Chris,
So, any 911. part number Fuchs is for tubeless type tire? Do you know the part number(s) for deep dish 911. Fuchs? By the way...were you and your car at the Silver Star Recycling Porsche Swap Meet & Show? I think I was admiring your car!

Here's a recent thread on the 'deep' early Fuchs:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10008&highlight=deep+fuchs According to Warren, the P/N for them is: 901.361.012.06 He also says the later tubeless-type started with P/N: 911.361.020.10, which sounds like the series you've got. So I'd say you're OK for just about any tire. FWIW Bruce Anderson's 911 Performance Handbook has a chart listing quite a few (but not all) 911 Fuchs part numbers. That wasn't my car you saw recently - I'm down in West L.A. and my 'E' hasn't strayed more then a few miles from home for several months. Between a new baby and crazy work schedule, I spend far more time in front of the computer then working on or playing with the cars.

Does anyone know the difference between P/N 911.361.020.00 and P/N 911.361.020.10 ?

My 69-70 factory parts manual (updated thru 72) actually shows 911.361.020.00 is the number for the 6Jx15 alloy "disc" wheel. This book doesn't list another 6x15 Fuchs. The .00 has got to be the "deep" version then, since it was correct for a 70/71 car. I don't know what the .10 variation is; maybe a later version of the same wheel?

Chris,
I looked at a set of wheels today 2 were 00 and 2 were 10. The 00 wheel, as measured from the rim the tire seats against to the face of the wheel, is about 1/8 to 3/16 deeper than the 10 wheel. Not sure if that is enough to be considered deep dish. Also, the 00 has a more rounded radius of the lip from the outer edge to the face of the wheel.
