915 drive shaft flange end float?
Hi
I pulled my 3.0 litre and 915 box out yesterday to prepare for the 3.6 going in (and cos the 3.0ltr is sold). I noticed that the drive shaft flanges on the 915 have got a bit of 'in and out' play, I guess I'd call it 'end float'. I suppose about 2mm or so movement. Is this normal? thanks BB

That's a good question. You might want to find Peter Zimmermann (Author of the book "The Used 911 Story") He's the 915 giru-god on this stuff. I know he's got a 915 wiki going on the rebuild process. It's a great read on the 915 gearbox - Google Peter Zimmermann 915 wiki and it should come up.

I think it's normal. I noticed the same thing on mine- so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Mine still rips around the track just fine... :>)
