Chain tensioner maintenance?

Good morning all,

In checking the health of my motor, I took the timing chain covers off to check for slack. At this moment I'm not ready for anything like the carrera tensioner upgrade, as I still don't have the engine running right. However, I did check for slack and everything seems to be tight and the chains have good tension on them.

Is there any maintenance or adjusting I should do while I'm here? What about some kind of safety stop for the chains, as I've read about but couldn't find any detailed info on?

Also, do I have to do anything fancy with oiling these suckers up, or just bolt it all back together and top off the engine oil level?

You have the safety stop. It is the bluish thing on top of the tensioner with two screws to hold it on.

If you want to forget about it. You can purchase a tensioner rebuild kit.

Good luck.
Larry
