High Speed Auto-X, An airport in Minneasota
Went to a high speed auto-x at a small town airport with the guys from the Corvette Club on Sunday. Great bunch of guys and are very welcoming. Turned out to be a fantastic day as the 88 did really well against a bunch of much newer cars. Get to brag her up as I ended up with the 5-6 fastest time of the day. The fastest cars were a couple of Z0-6's 66 second runs followed by a year old M3 68 seconds and another Vette with Hoosiers and myself at 70 seconds.
One of the guys who helped get this going had an 87 turbo. He didn't run but I did get a ride with full boost coming down the runway. Sweet ![]() I felt damn good being near the top of the pack of some very high powered cars. Around 25 cars in attendance. Also beat a 2004 Ferrari 360 and an Aston DB-9 by 3 seconds. ![]() ![]() Had one spin at the end of the runway which top speed was around 115. Came in a little hot and rear end started to come around, put the power down but just couldn't get it to hook up and did an on track 360.. Way too much fun! A few shots from the day ![]() ![]()

That hi speed AutoX sounds unreal. Those Corvette clubs like to go fast. The Corvette club in northern California always have the best courses if you like speed. You have to have a Corvette to run though.

Not with this group, anybody can run. And at $20 it's a great bargain. I can't go to the bar for less and is not nearly as much fun. I put in 12+ runs.

Neat! A 4th gear autox sounds like WAY too much fun! The best we can get around the Bay Area is an occasional 3rd gear course - fences and light poles usually limit that....

If it was that HS - then you did well in that company. You probably could have beat their times in their cars -

It is in Worthington, southwestern Minnesota, about 50 miles east of Sioux Falls SD. I experimented with 4th and 5th gear coming down the back straight away. I am running about 260hp and the speed was exhilarating. I
Jeremy, I think I did pretty well against some stiff competition and have found my suspension to be really well setup. The Z06's were reporting 125+miles per hour on the straights. The first slalom was 6800 in second and the large slalom on the second part was 6500 rpm in 3rd gear at the end. I will try to get some pictures of the course. They are going to do more next summer than just the one they have been doing.

The runway and mirror taxi way are around 4200' long and we used around 3800' feet of it.
I got the official results back and had 7th fastest time of the day being beaten by all Z06's and the BMW M3. Range between the fastest run and my 911 was 4 seconds with less than a half a second off a couple of the Z06's. The Ferrari was over 2 seconds slower. My Kumho's on the rear corded during the event and times started to drop off. 27 cars and a 184 recorded runs. These are a great group of guys to run with and they are very active with DE's. Looking forward to next year.

$20? wow. i dont remember how much the last one i did was, but it was all day and only 5 runs for a total of 5 minutes track time. not worth it. i won my class- novice. my times were right there with a lot of the other cars that i felt were compareable that were in other classes.
