Do your Euro Tail Light Lens say Bosch on them
I just picked up a pair of Euro Tail Lights for my 86 that are supposedly manufactured by BOSCH. Honestly, after inspection, quality does not seem very good. Edges are a little rough, maybe because its plastic.
This led me to think that they might be the reproduction ones. Just want to be sure because I paid for Bosch, not reproductions. They should say Bosch on them like our factory ones right? Thanks for your help! Danny |

I know that there are some out there that are obviously "aftermarket" (different shade of amber, even) that don't measure up. Also, there are EXACT types that don't say "Bosch" but are supposedly made by the same company that always made them FOR Bosch, right down to the black screws and little blue washers. The quality and EVERYTHING is the same; only thing missing is "Bosch" on the lens. That's IT. They are as expensive as the ones imprinted with "Bosch", too. Otherwise (and I have seen them!) I dare say noone will find a difference in any form......IMHO....

BTW, even the part nos. and symbols should be the same (save for the "Bosch" and the little symbol next to that), except that one lens of course is stamped "L", the other "R" in the lower inside corner. Quality should be spot on equal.

I purchased a front pair "Bosch Euro" last year for my 73. The amber is not as orange as the originals, the screws are silver (not black), and no Bosch logo. Only the box had a Bosch logo on it. I've seen the less expensive aftermarket versions and they are very similar to my latest Bosch versions. They may have contracted the new ones out to save money.

The Bosch lenses that Pelican Parts sells are purchased from Bosch. In our online catalog, we include the following text so that the customer knows what to expect:
Do note that because of the current arrangement between Bosch and Porsche, these lenses will most likely not be embossed with the Bosch name. Rest assured - these lenses are produced by Bosch and purchased from Bosch. |
