I like the Centerlines for their uniqueness but the RSR look is pretty hot.

The other problem is stretching a 255/16 to fit the 12in wide wheel; it doesn't look the best and I'm not sure of max performance out of the tire with stretching it. Dropping down to a 9 or 10 inch wide wheel may be better for performance.

I think I could go up to a 275/16 and reduce or remove the 25mm spacer but that is a lot of tire for an old 912 (the 255 is a bunch anyway).

I am trying to identify some wheels that I bought back in 1970. They are "Center Line" style but not Center Line wheels! These wheels are bolted together (not riveted). The riveted wheels have 24 rivets while the wheels I have have 15 bolts. The spun aluminum wheels are flat where they attach and the lug nuts are recessed through the wheel allowing for more thread contact with the wheel bolts. They are the same wheels pictured on the yellow # 77 Porsche. The wheels pictured with the "mosaic" are not the same. They are not flat and have 24 rivets not 15 bolts as on #77 car. Thanks for any information you might have on these wheels.

Cool looking wheels. There is a current company that makes that style wheel for the VW/off road crowd, called CMS. However, I don't think these are those.

Those look like Motorsport BBS wheel halves (BBS 0078, I think) with some big flat discs sandwiched between them. Very interesting. - Matt

EDIT: Oops, I just counted the bolts and they have one fewer than the BBS -- 16 vs 15. Still neat!

This is an old post, but those are Chassis Engineering/Monocoque wheels. High quality, made for custom applications to order. I have had a few sets. Currently have a set of centerlock/6 pin drive ones from some sort of race car.

Chassis 300005 aka "901RSR" has been rocking Centerlines since the early eighties. These are 16" but I think there's a set of 15x7/15x8s in the basement if anyone is interested.

Back in the day, 74 or 75, I ran a BP 911 in SCCA. At speed at Brainerd

Then we went to Daytona with a 914-6. Speedlines on the rear, centerlines on front.

Thumbs up

In the '70's, they were 'very' popular on Dragsters and Pro street machines.

I never had them on a P-Car or V-Dub...'but'

PS - Check 'my garage' out re info
