Jrdavid68,
That's pretty hilarious. What that seller did was "hotlink" your image, which is unquestionably a clearcut copyright issue. And super cheesy to say the least. He got what he deserved. |

Well, I wrote this to the seller:
Do you have any more pics, especially of the interior and engine compartment? And yours is a '97, not a '98, right? Kinda looks like a '98 from the pics. Anything that needs to be fixed? And he replied with: The car is in excellent shape; I will not have access to a digital camera until Thursday. I can send you many photos then. For now I can tell you that it is a very clean Jaguar with no body damage, accident history, paintwork or interior wear. The car is a 97 Black/Black car with clean wheels and fairly new tires. AM/FM cassette 6-disc CD changer and wired for a phone. Doesn't want to disclose that the pics are not of his car I guess... |

Oh man, if Thom wins, I'm going to have to get a really good lock for the garage.

Ok, no harm done yet. it IS POSSIBLE that the car he is selling looks Exactly like jacks- still uncool using the pic's w/o permission, but if I were jack, I would be flatterd, and maybe well deserving of some commission if it sells.
or just email the winning bidder- and deliver the car to em,no ebay fees!!

I would agree that it is both uncool and pretty harmless.
The guy's got really sticky fingers, though. I just noticed that he also copied text (without even retyping it) from If I catch him in my back yard, letting potential buyers kick the tires, though, I'm drawing the line.

This happens all the time on eBay, although pretty unusual on a big ticket item like this! Usually just guys with no digital camera or they can't figure out how to post pics. Easier to steal them. That said, he should have gotten Jack's permission. And he should clearly state that the car in the photograph is not the car for sale!!!! -- Curt

Just when I thought I'd heard everything weird...
It's already been asked, but, when's the last time you saw your car? I guess I've been lucky on ebay these past few years as a buyer. Your post is strangely funny and yet, disturbing. Cheers ________________ Bob Sauerteig '87 Coupe |

Yeah, and I can just look at the track calendar and see when you'll be out of town....

If the scratch in the window tinting matches something on your car, then I would step up security,
Could be the ultimate in stealing "pre-ordered" cars, although not a very good way to get away with it! Olivier

Hey, that pre-ordering stolen cars is something interesting. You bump across a picture of your car for an auction that ends in 2 days. On the morning 2 days later you go to your garage and your car is gone. Yikes!

I checked the guy's track record on ebay. Not too many transactions, 2 were negative, and 1 was neutral. On a couple of occassions, he simply didn't pay for the merchandise.

Jack, send him the picture of the pit bull. Tell him the shoe is all that's left from the last guy that stole your pictures.

I've been thinking of putting Jack's House up for sale too. If I could only figure out a way to get him out of it for a few hours while I lift it onto a trailer.
Jack, can I have some pictures?

This happens with alot of parts too. I was looking for a powersteering rack for my 951, and after running a search for it
I found it amazing that so many people had the exact same picture for their auctions, exact same cleanliness, exact same wire tag on the left tie rod, exact same oil spot on the driveway. It did however make it easier to pick which ones to bid on though.

I'd sure want that ad to say my car looks like this car vs this is my car.
Its one thing to take someones image without asking them, but another to show an image of something that is in fact not what you are selling.
