New GT on Ebay ?
|
I wanna buy it now. How stupid does he think people are.
"My uncle owns the Audi factory". Stupid. Here is a question for y'all. Can I merrily bid up to, I dunno, $1m. Then renege on payment - who has broken the contract - me or him? Just reread it. I didn't realise it was the special "twin turbo" model. Whadaya reckon - an extra 200hp? That is one of the most pathetic scams I have ever seen. I just saw that too. Neat trick having 2 cars for sale that Porsche hasn't even comitted to build yet. Someone on Rennlist emailed the seller, this was the reply:

Also, if this clown works at Porsche, he should know that the Carerra GT is a normally aspirated V10, not a "twin turbo"
|
Not only does he have shades (new ID) and not a single feedback, but anyone trying to sell a $200K car payable only by money order is an idiot. Who in their right mind would say "Woo hoo, a GT for me! I'll get that $200,000 money order right out to ya!"...and don't be surprised when this guy disappears! That is clearly his intention, otherwise he would accept escrow or full payment on delivery. Even the 10% deposit ($20K) is a scam artists jackpot. He also clearly knows nothing about these cars. Ebay should pull his ad and his account, what a crock!

Hmmm, Lets see:
His auctions include 2 Carrera GT's (He claims he has 3 of them, including his own personal car), 1 Diablo, 1 Z8, 1 Rolex, and 1 Honda Civic. All of car pictures look to be "file photos" except for the Civic. The Rolex looks way fake. He says that the GT's have twin turbos, when they are actually normally aspirated V10's. Not to mention I though the GT's were not even scheduled for production until 2003! Oh yea, and he claims his uncle owns Audi. He also has a zero feedback rating at eBay. I am guessing the only items he really has are (1) fake Rolex, and (1) riced-out Civic. I smell a huge, ugly, filthy, hairy, stinking RAT!! -Eric |
I'm in for $375,000. http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif
Another Rennlister has the high bid at $395,000. LOL Maybe a $1M bid would be entertaining? Best to all, Kurt |
I'd be careful about "playful" bidding. I wouldn't be surprised if some law savvy scam artist hasn't thought this up yet; offer something for sell you don't have just to attract bids of others not sincere in buying (or heck even if they are). By bidding you are entering a legally enforceable contract and when it's for $375K it is worth going after the person over. A fake name, etc are great unless they can track it back to you; then the fraudulent signature is interpreted as the real signature of the fraulent signer. The Civic may not even be his; looks like a pic from a car show. My guess is that this guy makes his money by collecting the deposit (and just prays for full payment) and then disappears. That's why he wants a MO so bad, cash and run no account necessary.

I flamed the guy and got this response:
GO AHEAD AND NOTIFY ANYBODY YOU WANT. IN FACT, TELL YOUR MOM AS WELL! MY UNCLE OWNS AUDI IN GERMANY AND A FEW OF THESE PROTO CARS HAVE BEEN MADE. I'M SELLING IT FOR COLLECTION PURPOSE ONLY. Is it possible for 1 person to own Audi??? ------------------ -Richard '84 Carrera Cabriolet '74 911 Widebody 3.6 Project |
No. Audi AG is a public company in Germany. Perhaps his uncle is a shareholder.
As if it would matter anyway, Audi AG and Porsche AG are separate companies. What a scam artist. Caveat Emptor. Don ------------------ don@plumley.org Das Zoom - '87 Carrera |
Sure it is! I own General Electric! Well, maybe not controlling interest. I think what he meant to say was....His uncle owns AN Audi.

I wrote him another email, very polite, asking him several questions about the car and his uncle. His response:
"These are the models with dual oscillators and I can tell you are stupid or don't know ****. Audi is the same as Porsche and you do not need to know any other information. You are a waste of my time and don't know **** but having no money. Hope my **** comes to your moms mouth hard" This guy is a real piece of work! ------------------ -Richard '84 Carrera Cabriolet '74 911 Widebody 3.6 Project |
I seldom bother to visit e bay. I'm also a bit of a computer newbie. But isn't there, shouldn't there be, policing done here? You would think e bay would also bear some responsibility in a scam like this. Also, is there a way to alert e bay to an obvious scam?

CRAP!!! he ended the auction before I could bid on that 1/24 scale model

What a surprise, the auction ended early.
To bad, maybe his "uncle" pulled the plug.. Bruce Herrmann |
I think we're getting all wrapped around the axle about some twelve year old kid who was bored on summer holidays.
Besides, MY uncle owns Audi, and I can't get my GT until 2005! |

So am I: Could you please send me info on the car you just had up for auction. I'm looking for any chance to get into a new 2002 model before anyone else does. It's always better to be first if you know what I mean. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mike |
