Where is Girt? Just finished the Dragon's Tale and getting close to I40W. Stopped for a cup and to update. What a ride the tail is. Scenery is fantastic, fear is motivating. I was getting to think I'd been doupted by a local tourist marketing when sweeper rt follow by hard left followed by..... Holy **** the road is wicked. Big drop offs sometimes on both sides. Banked turns with SLOW spray painted on the pavement. Or was that blood? Then I crossed over the top into Tenn. FOG, thick scary stuff. Speed went way down. I'm talking yugo following a camper speed. Worked 3rd & 2nd all the way down. Went up with a third of a tank thinking I've got all that brad penn up front for ballist. Then I started thinking it would only add to the fire during my CNN moment. Photos to follow tonight. Also the revs were high enough to suck down that tank. Ended up red lighting it Kramer style into the station. Damn I'm having fun. Memphis tonight with photos. Got to roll.

Great Drive

What a great Xcountry trip, perfect timing! The weather here on the West Coast is perfect right now. Hope you brought some shorts and sandals for the beach. Have a great trip and be safe. The more pictures the better.

Girt - Glad to see you are having fun!! Just remember to keep those four round things in the down position. Liked your description of the Dragon's Tale. Looks like the tire prob is fixed.

Dragon's tail sounded exciting, glad I was not riding shotgun on that one! Also, you know how freaked out I would be Kramering to the next gas station. You are drinking alot of caffeinated beverages-did not think the Porsche needed additional human speed, but hey, I am just the wife here at home reading the tales of the "Odyssey." Not to belabor the point but it is spelled "Duped." Totally in fun, Julia.

Great thread Girt. I was just out in the garage configuring duffel bags arrangements for my 911. In the mean time, we can only "live" through your road trip. Really wish I had a x-country adventure like yours! Stay safe. Thanks for posting.

Not only are we living vicariously through Girt and his travels, but we're getting an English lesson, to boot!

This all makes me want to drive somewhere far away. Oh, wait. I've still got two feet of snow on the front lawn - I won't be going anytime soon...

Memphis! We made it, arrived around 7pm local time. Sitting in the hotel over looking the Mississippi. Looks like my Dad joined in the fun while I was driving. Hey Old Man! Its like not making a family dinner and everyone gets to talk about you.

Well today it looks like I've been improving my carbon footprint. I've been burning that nasty dinosaur sludge at a rate that would have a super fund site cleaned in a month. Total for today 28 gals+. Of course no man can do that much labor without coffee, add another 3 16oz to the mix. One a double at starbucks for the update.
That will keep you going.

Now for the evening download. First I have to start with the funnest thing I saw all day. Roscoe was on the side of a garbage can at the overlook toward the end of the tail So lets start with him.

Now with the tail photos in order. Which do you think?

Outland was at the start of the run.

Pointing the way.

This is what you see alot of...

Next the tree of shame at Deals Gap at the summit.

Luckily no porsche parts were added.

One must heed warnings a faring fell on the other side of the tree while I was taking these.

Next the foggy ride down.

Last the Overlook where I found Roscoe.

Some tokens to the Dragon Gods...

Lets finish with another.

Lets finish with another....

To everyone following - Thanks.
RoninLB Thx for the Dragon info but missed the place along the way.
Hbkramer Where is Cherrola Sky?

Macroni Damn you get up early.
I can't wait to see You , Reza and all the guys on the West Coast. Front line of the invasion is on the way. And making good time.

JPNovak Thx for following but I'm not allowed to pick up strangers. Only kidding, unless you look like the one in the red Ferrari. Then the wonderful Misses may have something to say about that.

So who else here is going to the Targa? Besides the East Coast guys I count one. Speak up and join in....

Cheers , Now time for Ribs and beers... Check in when I get back.

Denver crew- Reza and I will be heading your way on the return trip.
