This question is kinda like the Woodstock question. If you can remember it, you weren't there!

My cars date code is March of 1985, and I was born in May of 1985, 2 months apart.

Living in London, driving a VW Bus with two sliding doors, one on each side. Only one I ever saw. Every day I passed a BMW 3.0 CSI and a '72 Porsche Carrera parked down the street from my apartment. Thought the Porsche looked tacky with the shadow Carrera script in blue, the duck tail and the blue Fuchs when compared to the BMW. I have since seen the light and been saved. My car was sold by a dealer in Greenwich, CT to a nice lady, I'm sure, from Rhode Island.

Working and raising daughters. And buying for transportation and fun a pair of really nice Audi's cheap after the Sunday evening TV show 60 Minutes on Audi's. First was a 5000 CS and the second was a 4000 CS Quattro. Great cars. That one was all white with red leather sport seats. Also around that year drove a friends mid 911 and decided I wanted one and still have a 1987 911. Those Audi's were great but the 911 was far better.

Married in 1987 in Bamberg Germany. My wife convinced the guy in the old Porsche museum to let us have a tour of the factory. Came back a few hours later and got to watch 959 engines being tested and look over the new paint line. I still remember the 911's pulling out of the quick open doors for test drives and beer dispensers at the break room.

In 1978 I was mid-twenties, single with good job and a red E Type Jag (good for social life!) Loved that car but sold it to make a bigger deposit for a nice house in a great suburb.
It was a wise gamble as we sold that house for a fortune a few years ago. I am now retired, so I bought a 78 SC because Jags don't age that well.
The quality built into a 911 from the outset has meant that they have generally survived but the English sports cars from that era have rusted & rotted away to nothing.

I was a post graduate intern and was preparing for the licensing exam to be a Physician. Always dreamed of having a 911 during that time. I was driving an orange 74 Fiat Spider my first sports car.

My 911 was built in November of 1987 for a math professor at Ohio State. At the time I was serving a mission for my church and was assigned to Fairfax, Virginia. At a professional office next to my apartment sat a red Targa Carrera with full DP body treatment. It was gorgeous and I was in love. I tried the handle one day and it was unlocked. I jumped inside and had my companion snap a quick picture with my camera.....scandalous! LOL.

....But since my 911 is an '88 I'll give a detail or two of that year. Got back to California in August and got a job as a bellman at the Red Lion for $4.00/hr. After some blood tests my doctor suspected I had Hemochromatosis, or too much iron. Turns out I had the worst case my HMO has ever dealt with. To confirm the diagnosis they biopsied my liver TWICE. This sent me into full cardiac arrest REPEATEDLY. Over the next 18 months really cute nurses removed 150 pints of blood from me to lower the iron level.

Needless to say that DP Carrera never left my mind. I told myself some day I would own one. Well, it ain't a DP, but a deal is a deal, right? My wife said that if I was the one that got fixed, I could buy any old Porsche I wanted as long as it was a 911 cabriolet.

My car was built in Oct of 87 as a MY 88. It was my senior year in college. I was a part time clerk on the trading floor, taking just enough credits in school to keep my eligibility allowing me to play my senior hockey season and still graduate in the spring.

In 1988 I had just graduated from High School. I had lusted over the 911 since I was 10, so when a girl I knew from school asked me if I wanted to drive her dad's Porsche, I was as excited as the first time something else usually happens in high school ;-) So she roles up in a brand new 928, oh well not a 911 but Risky Business was till fresh in my mind so a 928 was still pretty damn cool for a 17 year old! The bummer of the story, it was a automatic. I got out of that car vowing one day I'll have a 911 and it'll be a stick god damn it!

Yeah.. I have no idea how a 17 year old girl finagled the keys to her dad's Porsche. Insane..

Good story!

In the summer of 1981 my Dad got me a cushy summer job working for one of the Surgeons he referred a lot of patients to. I was his personal photographer and I would follow him around to the hospitals and go into the OR with him to photo document all his procedures. The biggest perk was he owned a number of cars including a 1981 911 SC Targa in dark green with tan interior. He never drove it so I got to drive it with a fair degree of frequency. There is a picture of me in my Prep School year book senior year with the car. I still had a full head of long hair back then. That was my first introduction to the world of 911’s.

I moved from MN to San Jose CA when I was 19 back in 1975. When I was 21 I moved to Jamestown CA and my ride was a Fiat X19. The 1976 911 I own was sold new to a lady who lived in Sonora CA which was only about 5 miles from Jamestown. I'm not sure if I ever saw it but both towns are very small. Fast forward to 2014 and the original owner was living about two hours from where I now live. She sold it back in 2000 to a guy who lived in her town, Sedona AZ, and I ended up buying it from him this year. Must have been fate.
