Well,
I've finally sat down with Matt Holcomb and organized a time/place for our intended "Melbourne Drive Day", as per the last thread on it... Mark it down in your diaries: SUNDAY 24th February at 10:00am We're thinking of starting off at Doncaster Shoppingtown carpark (Melways Map 33 D12). We'll meet in front of the Myer Section of the complex, along Williamsons Rd. We'll be there at 10:00am, but we'll wait until 10:30 before we leave, to give people extra time to get there. We'll be the guys in the yellow 911s. From there, we'll head off through Templestowe, Eltham and on through Research, Kangaroo Ground and up through Panton Hill, Smith's Gully to St. Andrews, where we could stop for a coffee. From there, we'll drive onto Kinglake and then across to Toolangi where we'll head back south and stop for lunch in Healesville. Lots of nice twisty roads and beautiful scenery. I'll be bringing the digital still camera and my new MiniDV Camera! From there, we can decide whether we're all up for extra miles, or head home along the Maroondah Hwy. I've attached a map... I'll need to get an idea of attendees, so that I know who to wait for. If you're keen, please Email Me and let me know your name and the model/colour of the car I should be waiting for! Weather permitting, it promises to be a great outing. There's a Shell Petrol Station along the way, so we can all top up with Optimax on the way. Hope to see many of you there!

As Mr Porsche used to say "Have fun, drive a good race, and don't crash the car".

Adam,
I spoke to John G yesterday, and he is interested in joining our planned convoy on the 24th with his Abarth! A client of his, Norman, might also be coming; he has a freshly rebuilt '74 Carrera 2.7. Fellas,
I am Mr. 90% and I could also be bringing two mates 80% and 70%. One is an '87 3.2, the other a hot pink C2 Coupe. Cheers, Victor |

DAMN! Wish I knew you guys a bit better. I have this cousin, you see. She and her hubby live in Newtown. He has this restored MGB that has won show awards from clubs composed of people who like horrible electrics and parts falling off. Gosh it would be a kick to have a string of GOOD cars pull in their driveway, and the message to Lynn would be one of love & hugs from her cousin in Orygun... Oh well...have a good drive guys...and enjoy some summer beach scenery, okay? Best, Paul..(cleaning up after a winter storm)

Victor,
At the risk of this post being edited by the moderators, It would kick ass if you could bring your friends! I'll definitely have to conjure up some kind of commemorative website for this.

I'll have to settle for a drive around Cairns and Port Douglas on the same day. Have fun, and remember to smile for the camera

Adam,
I can now confirm that I will definitely be there. The other two are also coming along by the looks of it. There is a fourth bloke in a 3.2 WB Cab turbo conversion that could also be coming, but I need to confirm. I think the car is still being assembled. I would also like to take this opportunity to clarify the colour scheme of the C2 previously referred to by myself as "hot pink". The owners legal council has asked me to refer to it as "Dog ***** Red". Regards, Victor '89 3.2 AKA "somewhat broken sounding conveyance" |

Hi Board
My name is Stuart, I am one of the people Victor contacted about this run, sounds like fun. Recently we did the GOR to Apollo Bay for brekkie by 7am with 5 Ps, had a great morning. A suggestion, though. A 10.30 meeting time means its getting late in the day, the road is busy and not every one is P-friendly, especially those charged with *STOPPING THE CARNAGE ON OUR BLOOD SOAKED BITUMEN* in their SS Commodores, to whom a toss of Porsches motoring gently through the twisty bits will prove irresistable. Forgive me if the intent here is indeed a gentle country cruise, otherwise how about a 7.00 start, with a late breakfast along the way? best regards stuartj |

Gentlemen,
Could not agree more, there is nothing like taking off at the crack of dawn. There would be nothing more frustrating than trying to convoy a dozen Porsches through a winding snake of caravans, old beaters, volvo's and cop cars. We now have confirmed 4 people from this end, we all vote early departure. 911 C2 911 3.2 911 3.2 Boxter "S" What's the consensus? DAMN! 3 posts in one week, I am risking my "Lurker Status" VC |

Hey,
I'm flexible! I was only thinking a 10:30 start as I enjoy a sleep in, but if earlier in the morning is good, then so be it! If Paul W, Matt Holcomb and John G can hack it, then an early start is what we'll do. I know that Paul W has other engagements in the afternoon, so, say a 7:30 meet at Doncaster would be better. Allows us more time to drive and a more leisurely lunch. Keep in mind that my 2.7 and Paul's 2.4 probably won't have the minerals required to keep the bevvy of 3.2s (inc Boxster) at arm's length for long, (Matt Holcomb won't have any problems!) and the C2 might just lunch me, so perhaps it should be not a "balls-to-the-wall" adventure. I need my licence for my job and I've only got 3 pts left! ![]() Maybe we'll just play it by ear... Also.. has anyone seen or heard Alex Counsell lately? I sent him an email about our adventure on Monday and haven't heard back. I know he's keen to come along, so if you know him, pass the message along!

Guys,
I'll gladly put up with burning eyes if it means we'll be free of those mobile chicanes -- and pigs -- for the run to breakfast. If I don't have my radiator-style cooler fitted by then, and if it's going to be a warm day, then the early morning temps will be exploited -- sensibly! Guys early is good for me. Sounds like it’s going to be a great turn out, and if John can make it we'll have our own one man pit crew
Cheers,

Paul,
Having an earlier start will almost certainly guarantee John G's presence! Matt Holcomb 1974 911 Carrera 2.7 Euro 1975 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Dedicated Homepage Engine Rebuild Homepage Porsche Owners Gallery Profile Pelican Gallery Profile |

I'm glad there's no problems with an early start.
We'll make it official. 7:30am take off. If you're there early, great! I'll probably be there from 7:00am onwards. Just pray for good weather, guys!

I'd love to come down and meet all you Mexicans. However, I have a party that weekend.
Have fun and watch out for the tourists up in the Dandenongs.

Ok,
I've got an idea of final numbers for this weekend's tour... Myself Matt Holcomb Paul Wischer John Gregory Victor Coppa Victor's friend Victor's friend StuartJ Norm - one of John Gregory's customers Should be a blast. Unfortunately, Alex Counsell cannot attend, nor can Peter O'Keefe or Adam Jackson, but we'll more than make do with the numbers we've got.
