'86 911. Am I supposed to have a rear tow hook in my tool kit?
If not, does anyone know the thread for the tow hook? I'll make my own with parts from McMaster.
|
I don't, but it may be missing in my bag?

Is there an fitment in the back? Love to see a pic of it :D

There's a pic on this site and I guess my idea about it being threaded isn't correct.

My ROW 84 has a hook included in the toolkit. It goes in the threaded hole in the left side of the bumper (covered by a small black plastic plug).
I can try to figure out the threads for you. EDIT: Here's a link to one: http://www.fvd.de/de/en/Porsche-0/911-10-19/coupe/-/item/item_details/VID_14386669-VCD_46615712-gid_-sort_4-display_50-item_FVD72115100/-FVD72115100-towing-eye.html |

The thread would be great if you can get it but I'm not sure it is threaded. |
The one I have is threaded for sure. Will see if I can figure out the thread.
To find it on FVD's site go to; fvd.de Change language (sprachwahl) to English Fill in Modell 911 (74-89) - Coupe Then search for "Tow" and it will be the top product. |
Tow Hook.
For our 1986 Targa, we have the original factory tool kit which does not include a tow hook.
Also, the car does not have a tow hook insert point as per the owner's manual. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1310841267.jpg The tow hook attachments for our '86 are located at the front of the car, under the bumper. Best, Gerry |
My '86 also lacks the rear tow hook. The drivers side bumper trim doesn't have the cap, and there is no hole in the bumper, either. I know this because in trying to replace these trim pieces, I discovered the replacement piece I bought has the hole for the cap, but my old one does not. Now I need to find a cap.

Thanks Gerry! This means I have a complete tool kit at least. I would know all this if I had an owner's manual but, unfortunately, I don't. I have one on backorder so I apologize if I continue to ask questions where I should really RTFM. |
