Starter Replacement

Looks like I'll be replacing my starter shortly.

Been reading 101 Projects.

Any tips on removing and installing while the starter and engine are still in the car?

Gary,
Do a search for the "bearhug" method. It works fantastic!

Not too big of a deal but also not too expensive for a shop that does it a lot. If you do it I recommend a nice flexible ratchet and a new allen socket with a few good short extensions to fiddle with....then do the partial engine drop....a few inches is all you need.

If you can get it to my house, I can help you. I forgot where you live but I could probably come to you if you can't get it started.

I'm free any night this coming week but Tuesday.

PM me if you are interested.

Well, if you do decide to do it.

Remove the Orange Heater tubes to the flappers, it will make life allot easier to get the bolt on top.

Clean the ground connections even if they look good.

OH HaHa.....live in Taylor.....THANKS for the offer.

Going to check with a good friend who has a shop within a mile from me. He has worked on my 911 before. Great work....and $$$$$ not bad. If the price is right will go for it.

With what's on my plate right now.....really don't want to hassle with this.

If need be will do it.

Will keep you informed.

Been having issues with the starter for some time. Now all I get when I turn the key is the starter motor turning....but no engagement.

Ooh, that's a little further than I thought but that's cool.

If you change your mind or your friend doesn't work out, contact me.

With your car being as clean as it is, the job will be very easy once it's in the air.
