Why doesn't porsche build a flat 8

Flieger 10-06-2011 09:00 PM

They did. 1961 804 F1 car was the first, subsequently used in the 904, 718, 910, 907, 909. Then they made a less high-strung version for the 908.

Not much they haven't done! A flat 16 in 1969 , good for 800hp ; with a hairdryer it was surmised 2000hp was possible. That is something to think about in a world goggleyed over the Veyron...

Porsche built a road car for Dr. Porsche’s birthday.

I purchased my copy from Toad Hall Motorbooks (scroll down to almost the bottom of the page).
(I prefer to buy from a Pelican Forum member for less than the big 'Goo'.)

Back on subject.
Yes, wouldn’t it be great to have a 5333 cc flat-eight Caymen at 2000#?

Best,
Grady
