Tim- I don't know 911 paint codes yet but I'm sure it's a silver....I think. The light was early evening.

Yeah my family car is a Ford Excursion...and the wife's is a Honda Odyssey, heck we even have a Fiat 500 (1972) probably not the best for kids.

My 3 year old son loves the 911, and I look forward to the day when my wife and I are on vacation and he sneaks it out....I would of!

Dusk in New Mexico can probably make your silver look different every night. I miss the NM sunsets. I lived in ABQ for 5 years. My oldest is three also and I have even read him Wayne's 101 projects book before bed. Its never too early. Here he is getting my car ready for me the morning I returned from deployment.

when i bought my '84 targa, my kids were 7 and 5. i could easily take both kids with our daughter sarah in her car seat placed on the passenger seat and my son in the back. once sarah was big enough to get out of the car seat, she went in back and my wife came along.

the kids loved the 911, especially with the top off. the 911 works surprisingly well in a number of "minivan" roles.

Tim awesome pic! And.. thank you for your service. Ha! My son will be 3 in November I will see if my wife approves the new bed time story material.

Thanks Pleco!

@dhagood- yeah I have a friend with a Targa who takes his son and daughter to school....they are younger than yours. It's the highlight of his day!

Love this forum......hmmm now I need to start asking the real tech questions. See you on the boards.

R505 has been banned.....
As a refrigerant that is!
R505 is an azeotrope or a blend of CFC R12 and HCFC R31.

Nice car and welcome to the forum!

YOU GUYS … I am so jealous of your having 3-YOs – I miss that (mostly).

I have a 7-YO student I’m tutoring (past three years) that I would love to educate in Porsche.
While we do minimal ‘Porsche’, there are so many ‘regular’ issues to address for a 1st-generation American.
As he approaches middle school, I will increase ‘Porsche’ as an incentive. I suspect he will do very well (he likes 911s).
I hope to live long enough to attend his doctorial dissertation. Yes, he has that possible destiny.

My youngest kid is the racer.
In MS he was a very accomplished shifter kart racer and more from age 10.
In HS he was allowed a “W” SCCA license at 16 and raced Spec Miata and Formula Mazda (including some testing in Pro-Star at sub-track record times).
This is a ‘career’ that some seek (but few should pursue) and I’m satisfied he has a real career.
Racing can be as a ‘sport’ - now that he is a few years out of undergraduate.

All this shows how important it is to include your kids in our hobby.
This ‘education’ will carry them a lifetime.
I include plumbing, electrics, carpentry, auto (Porsche) mechanics and all the ‘trades’ in a well-balanced education.
A PhD is worthless without knowing how to change sparkplugs. Well … I’ll give a few Nobel’s a break.

Best,
Grady

Make sure to join the PCA. You should be in the Roadrunner's group here in NM. I just joined and it's a lot of fun.

My 2 year old boy rides up front in the Targa and my 6 year old gal in the back. Both love it because I make riding in it for them a special occasion. And the nice thing about NM is that I always have sun and going topless is not just a summer thing here.

I will have to search..I saw some threads on car seats for the rear....It's a hard sell for me to take the 3YO in the 911- she prefers I cart the kids in the 9K lb. diesel Excursion.

As we negotiated the traffic entering the Toys R Us parking lot yesterday to pick up a Nerf "Sniper Rifle", my 8 year old shouted from the back seat, "People! Obey the Porsche!"

Perfectly stated! Best BBS for 911 owners in the world. Dont believe there is any 911 related question this BBS community can't answer . . . . . correctly . . . . . trust me, I have tried.

Have fun and dont save the miles for the next caretaker of your 911.
