New 86 coupe owner-spoiler dilemma
I have a nagging concern about my first 911. The option codes say the car came with factory front & rear spoilers. The car has a chin spoiler on the front and the carrera tail on the back. The PO didn't like the look and had them removed, but put back on for sale. My nagging doubt is that the chin spoiler was not the one put on from the factory with that option. Am I driving around with the correct front spoiler or am I in that unstable situation of having a rear but the wrong front?
Any help would be greatly appreciated by a noobie. Thx.

Looks like the same one that is on my Carrera. I think it looks correct to me.

Again, thanks for the feedback. I was really jazzed when I learned it had factory limited slip & spoilers. Was also my ideal color combo. I'm already hooked on the terrific folks & info on this site!

Not sure if I should start another thread, but what's the first thing a new 911 owner should add or change?
I have my eye on a seine shift gate & not sure if a SW chip is worth the investment on a stock car having no mods. Thoughts?

Put in the factory short shifter and the seine shift gate. You will be so happy you did. I did that almost right off the bat when I bought my car and I love it each time I shift. The original sloppy shifting was very distracting to good driving. Pretty easy to do and the difference is amazing.

My '84 had the factory short shift in it when I bought it. (Mine has LSD too.) The Seine GSK will work with either stock or short. I have the Seine sitting on my work bench right now, will install it next week. I installed Ed's Derlin coupler bushings yesterday, which was a big improvement by themselves.
Mine also had an SW chip and M&K pre-muffler when I got it, so I've never driven it stock. Pulls amazingly hard, but I can't speak for how much better than stock it might be.

The '86 came stock with the short shift. Get Wayne's 101 book and learn how to change out the shifter bushings. Do that and then decide if you need a Seine shifter. Maybe I am just used to it, but my '86 shifts just fine (after bushing upgrade) and after all of these years I have never missed a shift.

You dont have to install both of them and they work fine individually. You can get used to the shift feeling, but I wanted to have a positive feel to my shifting and a no worries experience. Each to his own, but a shift kit is a lot cheaper than a transmission repair. It is good to look at bushings before you do the work, and mine were just replaced, as well as the syncros and other items from the PO. I just prefer to be able to shift with less mental effort.

I would not change a thing. Just drive the daylights out of it. And make sure that all maintenance issues have been addressed.

how many miles on the LSD? around 60-80K miles the disks wear - and you get more "slip" than "limited" the good news is that you can get them renewed/rebuilt from people like GT transmission (Matt)

BTW - the car looks great. One of my first students had a while Carrera like that. It was great fun for him to learn on.

102K miles. Have all the service records since second owner starting in 88. Has been pampered by previous owners, paint is great & interior is great. Everything works but AC. Compressor belt removed, no big deal in the PNW. Just needs some of Wayne's recommended improvements.

really nice!
my car's current owner ran for a year without the belt...then last week removed the compressor and condenser...and brackets... I really dont think AC in the PNW is even worth a second thought...but I will keep it with the car...could be re-installed if ever desired I guess..... I have 180+k miles so I doubt if I ever sell it the AC working will be the sticking point for any potential buyer - though I have serious doubts I would ever sell it..... Enjoy the heck out of it! Do you plan any HPDE days ... they are really fun!
