Center control panel/ fresh air blower
Should my center control panel work the fresh air blower, if there is no engine in the car?
My car is in the garage, but the engine is in the shop. Yesterday I replaced the center control panel, because my old one was broken. I hooked up all the cables properly, plugged the wiring harness into the same place the old one was and hooked up the ground and glove box light. That is basically all that comes in the harness. There were 3 white with stripes wires on each unit. As well as the yellow and red striped one, on each. The new one had one less male pin in the connector, but the old one had a light blue wire that wasn't plugged anywhere anyways. I hooked up the battery and tried to see if the blower would work in the accessory position. It didn't. So then I turned the key to the on position, that is when i pumped gasoline all over my garage floor. Then I disconnected the fuel pump from the fuse block and turned the key all the way on. Still no sound from the blower motor when activated from the new control panel. I didn't turn the key to the start position and don't want to with no engine. Should this thing work right now, for a test? Or should I just wait until the engine is back in and see then. There might be more things disconnected from the engine removal that are required for the blower to run. Anybody have a wiring diagram for one of these things? My car is a 75 911S. The replacement unit looks the same, but like I said. it didn't have the light blue wire and there was one less pin in the plug. I am sure it is a different year, because mine said 'defrost' in the lower right, and the new one has a defrost symbol in the lower right. All I want it for is directing the heat from feet to dash and that should be fine, my heat is backdated. I never use the fresh air blower. but since I have a new switch for it, I wanted to know if it would work. Thanks Last edited by dipso; 01-31-2012 at 03:05 PM.. |

yes with the key in the on position. you can test the blower by connecting jumper wires to the terminals where the harness plugs into the blower (use continutity tester to find the ground; the other 3 are the 3 speeds).
