Oil pressure switch adapter fitting
Oil keeps leaking around the oil pressure switch area. I tightened the existing pressure switch, then replaced the pressure switch with a new one with a new crush washer, yet its still leaking. I'm wondering about the adapter fitting for the oil pressure switch. Does that screw out of the case and does it have a crush washer? Pics below show the adpater fitting.
Thermostat has a new o-ring and breather cover has a new gasket so I rule those out. Oil gets all over the bottom of the AFM, the hoses etc so seems like pressure is involved. thanks for any input. - Keith ![]() ![]()

Searching on 'adapter fitting oil pressure' turned up this thread which seems to indicate it does thread in.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/313350-oil-leak-revisited.html Mine seems quite tight as well but I'll give it a go with a breaker bar and see what happens. From Jim Sims in another thread. I'm dealing with a 3.2 but is probably the same. Per the '74-'77 factory illustrated parts catalog there is a metal sealing ring between the adapter and the engine case. It is 18mm x 22mm and has part number 900.123.044.30. The adapter part number is 901.101.175.01 and the oil pressure switch is part number 911.613.571.01. The metal seal ring between the switch and the adapter is trapped on the threaded nipple protruding from the bottom of the switch and therefore stays with the switch. You likely already know this, but it is common practice to apply an additional bead of epoxy at the crimp seal on the switch in an attempt to extend the leak free service of the switch crimp joint. Further help against future leaks can also be gained by coating both seal rings on both sides with a light coating of Loctite 574. Of course also clean and degrease all the sealing surfaces before reassembling. Cheers, Jim
