There is no better way to get Eastern Wa than to go via Chinook Pass. I could not guess how many times I have driven it.

WSDOT - Chinook Pass Update

I live on the Western side near Enumclaw. They are targeting the opening May 25th, the same day as Beartooth, which I have also enjoyed driving.

Stop at Whistlin Jack's for lunch or dinner. Whistlin' Jack Lodge - Restaurant and Mountain Lodging - Chinook Pass, Washington

Heck, if the timings right, lunch on me on the Western side.

Last time over the top, well at least when I had a camera:

and this sign always makes me laugh. To the people of the Northwest, Yakima is usually referred to as Crackima, not the Palm Springs of Washington.

I'm 15 min south of the turnpike in Pittsburgh if you need anything on the home strech.

I've done the Pittsburgh - Chicago drive several times with a car full of girls and quickly found out that Ohio rest stops are significantly better then those in Indina.

Feel free to PM me if you want contact info.

UP-DATE

David got his ‘new’ SC on Tuesday.
He spent Wednesday night in Missoula MT and last night in Jackson WY.
He hopes to get images posted today.

He plans to travel north through Grand Teton N.P. to Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone and then east to Cody WY.
Rain & snow forecast but much is open.
The highways are all clear and open with occasional "Rocks on road" notations.

Best,
Grady

The trip has been great so far with breathtaking scenery everywhere. Yes, I know the post is worthless without pics...one of my challenges but I have emailed some shots to Grady for upload to Pelican with some narratives that I will not duplicate here. Hats off to Grady for his consistent valuable support!

As Grady said I spent the night in Teton village which is very nice. This morning I will head out to capture more of the majestic countryside.

Argh! Don't fool with Mother Nature! It is raining here in Teton Village with snow in the higher elevations and more snow tomorrow. Unfortunately, I must skip Yellowstone this time around . I will be taking a ride shortly through some back areas and then head east to lower elevations out of the snow (or ice). Later.

OK everyone without prior commitments, DINNER 6:00 PM TONIGHT (5/27/12) at the BUCKHORN EXCHANGE.
1000 Osage St. Denver CO, 80204-3918

Post here if you can come so we can have a (more-or-less) accurate reservation count.

I’ll raffle off a Rennenhaus Poster.

David just emailed.
He spent last night in Grand Lake in RMNP.
He was just about to have lunch at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park.
Gets to Denver mid-afternoon.
We hope many can make it to dinner (or just hang out at the bar).

We are going 1/2-day (early morning) to High Plains Raceway tomorrow morning (Monday 5/28/12, Memorial Day).

Best,
Grady

Just came in from the garage (2.2T engine clean up for my '72) . I will share a drink with you all but meals there a little pricey for my blood.

High plains was awesome! Met some local folks on an open track day. Left the raceway, to Omaha that night, then last night in Toledo. Today will be back home...then to post some pics from the trip.
