Tire & Wheel concern SC

OK I have 6 &7 fuchs, I just acquired 7 & 8 fuchs I have 225 50 16 which are diameter of 24.8 on rear. I want to put the new BF Goodrich which are 255 50 16 and are 26 inch diameter The car has been lower to European spec. I took measurements and I do not think the 255 tire on the 8 inch will work. The measurement to the fender was close which I could live with except the 255 is and inch wider tire Any body have any thought on this Thanks

I think most go with a 245 in the rear ... I run a 255 but I am running 17" cups and it barley fits .. I seem to think that the 255 on a Fuch in the back doesn't fit ... another though is if the tire is over an inch taller than the old you are going to experience some speedo issues and may notice a slight gearing change .. as you are changing the diameter that makes the rest of the equation ...

Hopefully another of these guys with Fuched rear ends can chime in .... but I am pretty sure ....

It probably won't fit given the height that you claim.

With that much sidewall it may look "balloony" as well.

Go with 225/50 on the 8s. You will be very happy.

Yep, 225/50/s are as wide as you want to go on the 8s, not only would the 255s be "balloony" but you wouldn't have the benefit of a flat/stiffer sidewall.

another issue with the taller tires is that they'll affect your gear ratios, making each taller. This will likely result in your car being slower off the line, etc. I agree, stick with 225/50s --
