VDO Porsche Part#'s

Any way to determine by the part #'s found on the inside of the gauges if they are the correct one's for my car? I've searched this forum and can't (or haven't) find the info.These are what I removed from our '68 912 Targa today;

Speedo (in KM/H) - 911.641.503.00

Tach - 902.741.302.02. 0008

Fuel - 901.741.502.06

Temp - 901.741.501.04

Clock - 901.741.702.02

This information is in PET. Very useful indeed.

Especially if you're mixing and matching parts from different years (or trying to avoid that, as you appear to be doing).

There are several listed in PET for 68-, 200KM/H (912), 250KM/H and 300KM/H (and the MP/H version, presumably with comparable ranges).

911.641.530.00 would be correct for a 300KM/H speedo (for /50 tire).

Tach - 902.741.302.02. 0008
PET gives this as correct for a 68- 912, and 901.741.302.04 as correct for a 68- 911 L/E or a 911(USA).

Fuel - 901.741.502.06
PET says this is the correct instrument for a 62L fuel tank used in a 68- 911 TU/L/T/E, 911 (USA) or 912. 901.741.502..05 is also listed for 68- 911S and 911 L (USA).

PET says correct for 68- 911 (USA), 911 TU/L or 912.

PET says correct for 68-. PET also says "trim frame chrome -67" and "trim frame black 68-" - the -67 instruments have smaller supercession numbers..

If the tach reads correctly, i wouldn't be greatly concerned by PET saying it was supposed to be a different #. It's not infallible.

Wow, thanks for checking into this, thank you! I will show my ignorance here, but what is/where is PET? I'm learning here and I appreciate the lessons.

"PET", I suspect, is the abbreviation of the German for "Electronic Parts Catalogue", but then I recognise very few German words - "turbolader", "kugelfischer" "sonderwunschen" and "flacbau" are a a very significant %-ge of my German vocabulary..

It's available through Porsche on CD in PDF form.

Our host stocks it too: Pelican Parts - Product Information: 000-043-400-05-OEM

Bah. I missed that you had a 912. In which case the part # on the tach is correct, sorry.
