No Sway Bar Driving

I had to remove my rear sway bar to change out the bushings; however, it will be off the car for a few days as these 15mm, red-bulls eye center pieces are tough to find.

My big question is: Can I impact any part of the suspension system by not having it on? I cannot see how two bushings on the drop link pressed onto the trailing arm ball connector can make that much of a major difference. But, seeing its an older Porsche, I wanted to get some feed back to see if indeed its not wise to drive with it off. So far, easy daily driving.

Regards

My car does not have any bars (yet) and it drives fine!

I'd think it should do no harm, other than perhaps spill your coffee a little easier.

I had a 69 911E that came from the factory with no bars in front or rear and it handled just fine. Even a 67-71 911T came standard with a front bar only.

Personally, I prefer running mine without a rear bar, seems to stick better in the rear, plus I don't get all that tire squeal when I goose it on a tight turn.

Cheers,

Joe

It will change the handling characteristics, but that's all. You should probably avoid driving it very 'spiritedly,' but you shouldn't avoid driving it.

I have to agree with Noah, if you didn't know it was all hooked up in back you would hardly know the difference, except for the fact that it will be more forgiving when taking it to the limits as I discovered my mounts had been torn off for years. Only after having it repaired I later opted to leave it off after all.
